Wylder Hotel - Tilghman Island

The plus: arrived early for the weekend wedding after an overnight flight from AZ and was very excited that we would be able to check in by 12:30. Took naps outside in the hammock under the trees and breeze. Walked the grounds and we were getting ‘in the mood’. The not so plus: then we checked in… was presented with the smallest room ever (and I travel often) after having booked a room with a queen bed 8 months earlier. We were in room 33 of the main building (refuse this room if ever presented with it) up in the attic with a sloped ceiling (45 degree), all the utilities of the building right outside the window and had the brightest light coming through the triangular window above the other windows ALL night long. The A/C was elevated to the bed height and was maybe 15” away. I felt like I was sleeping with it, couldn’t hear a thing when it was running . And a full sized bed to boot. Here’s an idea, use this for a storage closet, not a paying room. There was no where to hang dress clothes (I mean no hangers, no place to place a hanger even if there were any) and the shower was so small, my wife had to go out of the shower to shave her legs. Pictures don’t do it justice, but here’s one of the ironing board they brought up for us to use.. The pool was nice and kayaks available, the sauna was very relaxing, but the cold water plunge was filthy - I assume the water was never changed after it was filled for us the first day (had to sign up for that).

A very nice location being on the water. The hotel is an older one and has some charm; however, we felt the price for our room was high. The room was small, and I had the AC blowing on my face all night as it is right next to the bed. The bathroom was also small which is okay, but the shower is extremely small and would not allow for one to shave their legs! The continental breakfast was basically orange, apple, bagel, yogurt. Helpful hint for those who may have issues with climbing stairs: request a room on the first floor.

The property location is quiet and set back from the road. Spacious grounds. The very basic tiny room my brother and I shared had barely any space around the two beds. There were no table and chairs. No coffee maker. No refrigerator. No counter space in the bathroom to put the toiletries bag. There was no bath tub - just a stand up shower. The water pressure was so low that it took a long time to shower. No hot breakfast and the coffee was cold. All in all, overrated place and a huge disappointment.

Wylder has the best amenities for this area. Tons of space and activities for pets and kids. Biking around the area was a nice time (another free and easily accessible hotel perk), but when you’re ready to get in the car, St. Michaels’ bustling downtown is a quick 15-min drive down the road. Lauren and the whole team at Wylder (and Tickler’s) have been super friendly and hospitable. We’d recommend for anyone else looking to have a wonderful, relaxing time less than a 2-hr drive from DC!

Our third time visiting Wylder and it never misses! An easy escape from the Philadelphia area with our children. The highlight is always the great Captain Alan and his crab catching class! He is the absolute best!! Our whole family enjoys the great pool and access to kayaks and paddle boards! We will be back again next summer!

The Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island is the perfect quiet getaway - lovely setting, peaceful and serene. Wonderful experience starting with the warm welcome - Shout out to Lauren and Ramon who provided exceptional service! Very clean grounds and rooms, nice amenities, good food, nice pool and more!

Great location with great, professional and responsive staff. Wonderful quiet place for couples or a family. Waterfront location, great pool. Wonderful restaurants close by. My wife and I highly recommend it. This was our first trip to Wylder and we will be going back again.

My husband and I just spent one night at the Wylder and we’ll definitely be back!! The service was great, the vibe was very laid back, and the grounds & room were immaculate! If you don’t want to explore Tilghman or St Michael’s, you really don’t have to leave the resort. They have everything from water activities, lawn games, bikes, and a fantastic waterside bar @ticklers. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary!

What a wonderful property with lots of great amenities and things to do - from the pool, sauna, ice bath, chairs, fire pits, restaurant and bar…it was a perfect birthday get away! And close to St. Michaels and other shore towns. Ticklers Crab House was good!
