The Auberge

We always have a wonderful time here with owners Jake and Katie. It’s a beautiful, relaxing place to be with comfortable, deluxe bedrooms and a roaring fire in the beamed restaurant and then you have the food: every mouthful is an adventure in taste. The flavour they pack into their meals is exceptional. We think they will get a Michelin star soon. We’ve been going there for two years and were among their first ever customers so we feel proud of them for doing so well. They put everything they have into making sure they achieve perfection.

What a fabulous stay with the most delicious and beautifully presented food - both at dinner and at breakfast. We particularly enjoyed the wine flight with dinner and appreciated the owner’s knowledge of the wines served to us. We also loved the stroll round the kitchen garden before breakfast. We will hopefully return again.

I came here with my family (9 of us) for my birthday and the service was fantastic! We had the festive menu and it did not disappoint. We had complimentary bread to start which was still warm, followed by our 3 course meal. The staff brought out a special birthday dessert just for me at the end of the meal and that made the night even more special. I would 100% recommend this restaurant!

I stayed in Room 2, one night, on business, and the room overlooking an area of garden, had a very comfortable double bed indeed. Spotlessly clean. Two bottles of water, tea/coffee biscuits all complimentary. Incredible value for money, everything to highest standard, from the quality of loo roll to the complimentary soaps/shampoo, luxurious towels. It was a lovely room, beautifully designed and styled, and a great tiled bathroom, with shelves and heated towel rail, and both a hand-held and overhead shower and it's a large beautifully tiled walk-in shower. I only mention all this as I usually stay in Premiere Inns when on business, and the contrast really surprised me, this was (for same price) superior in every single way. Parking free and plenty, with security cameras. Sadly, I could not have dinner, but will next time, if it's anywhere near the quality of the cooked breakfast, which was included in the room price, and was outstanding: fresh mushrooms, Suffolk black pudding, free range eggs, bacon, local yoghurt...all excellent and breakfast cooked perfectly. I'm guessing it's a family run venture, but staff were very helpful, courteous, meticulous and very welcoming. The pride they take in high standards in every detail is uplifting for us weary travellers. Would highly recommend to anyone.

My husband just treated me to a surprise getaway for our 38th wedding Anniversary to The Auberge and it was fabulous. The food was to die for! And the staff couldn't have been more pleasant or professional, nothing was too much trouble. And they showed a clear pride and excellent level of knowledge in the food and drink they served. I would highly recommend a visit to stay (the comfort of the mattress on the huge sleigh bed, was good enough even for my metal pinned back!) I would happily drive for miles just to eat there again. I'm sure we will be back soon.
