SpringHill Suites by Marriott Thatcher

Location: On US 70 with easy access. Has Denny's restaurant next door. Property: Neatly kept. Outdoor pool. Very good fitness room. Business Center semi-private. Staff: The manager, Aaron, was the epitome of professional and still charming, helpful. Room: Living are of suite is small, but has everything needed. The mattress was way too soft. I don't think it was a Marriott mattress. The sofa bed was not comfortable as a couch due to the small back rest. Breakfast: Very good. Lots of topping for cereals. The attendant was super attentive. Price: At $275 it is high priced for the area and in general.

The price for this hotel was a little more than I was wanting and willing to spend for a quick one night stay while passing through the area. There's only a handful of hotels in this area, so that may be why. I decided to redeem some Marriott points instead. This is either a newer hotel or a recent re-model of an existing hotel...not sure which. There is a Denny's within walking distance...basically share the same parking lot. Front desk staff was friendly, and were able to assist when I asked for some paper plates and utensils to use for dinner. The check-out time was 12pm, which I was pleasantly surprised about. I did not have time to check-out the pool. The room was great and exactly what I expect from a Springhill Suites property. Mini fridge and microwave both worked great. Bed(s) were very comfortable and the pillows were nice as well. AC kept the room cool, and the room smelled nice. There was good water pressure in the bathroom for showering. Could have used more than one small trashcan though. Breakfast in the morning was different. There were no waffle machines, but there were pre-made pre-packaged waffles in a warmer. They weren't very good; much prefer the fresh ones you can make. There was also a pre-packaged breakfast sandwich available also in a warmer. That was decent, but could have been better. Breakfast is probably my only gripe about the property. The hot options weren't very good. Overall, I had a nice one night stay here. I'd consider this property again if in the area and needing a place to stay if the price is right (money or points).

This hotel is easy to find, we arrived after dark and found parking easily. We requested a quiet room and the lady checking us in was able to find something towards to end of the hall on the top floor. The room is spacious and clean with updated lighting and an updated west elm sofa that is also a trundle bed. Look in the closet for the sheets and blanket to make up this bed. They do provide a makeup remover wipe along with other basic toiletries although for the shower they provide body wash instead of bar soap. So, bring your own bar soap if that is what you prefer. Breakfast is provided and that was not great. The coffee and muffin were fine but they should just not provide breakfast, it was that bad. They forgot to put water is the oatmeal so I ended up eating about a teaspoon of scrambled eggs to get by. The orange juice was watered down. The bananas were brown, the cantelope had part of the rind on it. We slept well, it was clean and spacious. Just consider yourself warned about the breakfast.
