Hotel Villa Nisteri

Having just returned from nisteri beach, I can truly say I've had the most relaxing holiday. Hotel is spotlessly clean, owners and all staff friendly. Beds comfortable. The only thing in my mind that could be improved is the fact your unable to choose off the menu,mentioned in a previous review . You are given a small choice which you pick in the morning ( main course only) starters and dessert are set ( dessert for me was the biggest let down. Couple of slices of honeydew melon on 2 x occasions,whole peach,one scoop of ice cream, watermelon once and a slice of cake). As staying guests in would expect the same standard of food as walk in customers. Apart from that it's was a beautiful holiday and would recommend.

Spent 2 fabulous weeks at Nisteri in June. Spotlessly clean hotel, well equipped and serviced room, soooo comfortable bed & pillows and amazing shower, plenty of wardrobe space. To top it off we had a balcony with amazing panoramic views. Just as important, the staff (owners and their sons) and waiting / breakfast staff were the friendliest and most helpful I've ever come across. I won't name them because I wouldn't like to miss anyone out but suffice to say they were all amazing. On half board, the restaurant served authentic, hearty meals in the most beautiful shaded taverna. Apart from days out we ate lunch there too (we also bought lunch from the local bakery, which sold stunning cakes). Buffet breakfast offered a good range to choose from. The set yoghurt with honey is to die for; I've not stopped eating it since I returned home! I even found a nice bottle of Greek white wine which the staff would keep in the fridge until the next night for me. The beach, with enough sunbeds and parasols was gorgeous. Crystal clear water and because of the time of year, was cool and refreshing. One evening, just after dinner, we were treated to a magnificent display from a pod of dolphins in the bay. There are steps but as someone with restricted mobility, I managed them OK with handrails and my walking sticks. Not suitable for wheelchairs though. The owner actually took me in her car to the top of the hill to meet the bus when leaving. Thasos itself is a beautiful, lush green island with fabulous beaches. We hired a car to tour the island and were spoilt for choice for seafood restaurants for lunch. Also went on a full day boat trip - again, accessible (not wheelchairs though) with helpful staff. We went with Eros II which was much cheaper than Tui, even with the taxis to and from the port in Thasos. I was reluctant to write this review because I hope to return. Thank you to everyone at Villa Nisteri for the most relaxing holiday we've ever had. Hope to return in 2027 (if we weren't going to a family wedding in Rhodes next year we'd have already booked for next year). Sandra & Phillip Holliday

What a beautiful hotel! Situated on a lovely quiet beach with views of the mountains and lush greenery and flowers, we have never felt so relaxed from a holiday before. The sea is so clear and green. The hotel itself is lovely with a taverna right next to the beach. The food that you can buy is delicious- I would only say that the half board option food at dinner is not quite as good quality as the food you can buy from the menu so I would be hesitant about going half board again. But I understand this is to do with inflation potentially? The breakfast though has a good selection of hot and cold food - maybe more fresh fruit now and then would be good! There is a large bakery just a few minutes walk away (still being renovated so not open whilst we were there). Apart from that, nothing else close by so a pleasant 25 minute walk mostly along the beach brings you to Thassos town - lots of choices of shops, bars and restaurants. We loved Tavernaki the best. The staff are absolutely amazing - so friendly and professional- they can’t do enough for you! Would highly recommend and definitely returning!

I rarely write reviews but George and his family deserve it after the most relaxing holiday. The hotel is in a fantastic location, on the beach front, an easy walk into the town. Our room was of a high quality with the best hotel bed I've slept in home or abroad. Besides George and his family, Manolis, Greg and Christina made everyone feel welcome, most guests we met were regulars, coming back time and time again. My partner Julia and I will most definitely be joining that group. We chose half board, of which breakfast and our evening meals where delicious and authentic Greek food. Food and drinks were good value for money, and the hotel as a whole of a very high standard. We are so happy with the time there, the only negative was having to go home.

Location: The allure of this hotel was that it had a somewhat secluded beach front location, whilst still being walkable to the main town (Limenas). Walking to Limenas took around 30 minutes (around 2.7km, for the busier part of town). For the first 10 minutes or so, you can walk along the beach, and after that, it was mostly walking along the side of the road with some intermittent pavement. I didn't find it difficult as the traffic is pretty light. However, people with mobility issues may want to take note. I was content to mostly stay in the locale, with the odd trip into the town. Had I stayed here longer however, I'd consider renting a car as the bus network wasn't up to much (it may have been the time of year though). The views from the hotel looking out onto the Agean were stunning. There is no pool at the hotel, but that didn't bother me in the slightest when the sea was right there. The beach, although public, wasn't busy in May and there were always loungers available. Rooms: I stayed in a standard double. The room, while not the biggest, was well-equipped and it was nice to have aircon, internet and a safe included without additional charge. The maids did an amazing job, and they were like ninjas; cleaning the room while we were out for breakfast. Food and staff: I don't normally go on a half-board basis, as I like to try different Tavernas. The food here however was fabulous, particularly the moussaka. You choose what you want for a main at reception in the morning, if you don't like the daily special, you can choose from around 6 or so other dishes. The starter and dessert are always fixed though. Of the 5 times I ate here, there was only really one dish I wasn't a big fan of. Dessert is usually fruit (one time it was a coconut cake). There is a bakery only a 5 minute walk away though if you fancy more indulgent sweet treats. Drinks aren't terribly priced and they do an excellent espresso fredo. I just wish they did more wine by smaller carafes, rather than by the bottle. Breakfast is okay. It's pretty much the same buffet fare everyday. There was enough to keep me satisfied (usually cereals, breads, cake, fruit, fried eggs, omelette, cold cut meats, bacon, sausage). The family that run this hotel were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. And the mother (apologies for not getting your name!), does an amazing job tending to all the beautiful plants and flowers. Max the cat also entertained us with his antics. I've never come away from a holiday so relaxed before, and I've already recommended this hotel to family!

Hotel Nisteri is situated in a beautiful location on the sea front. It is a 25 minute walk into Thassos town and it is one of the first stops if you come on a coach on the ferry. The hotel itself was beautiful, staff very friendly and sun loungers nearly always available. It is not a private beach so others do come to use the loungers also and pay. The food was amazing and so delicious. I told the owner I was gluten free and she made separate meals for me every night ensuring they were ok for me to eat. I felt very confident of their knowledge here. The beach was lovely and the snorkelling was good. Overall fantastic time !
