Marriott Phoenix Resort Tempe at the Buttes

Way to long a walk from check in to the your room it’s a poorly laid out property with a crazy amount of stairs as well as having to go from an air conditioning to out side to a hot elevator to then a long hallway to the rooms.

Disappointing Experience – Lacking in Cleanliness, Staffing, and Hospitality I had high hopes for our stay at the Marriott at the Buttes, but unfortunately, it fell short in many areas. The property is in desperate need of an update—what could be a beautiful, high-traffic destination is instead falling behind due to lack of upkeep and attention to detail. The cleanliness of the pool area was disappointing. It clearly needs a thorough deep clean, and the overall landscaping felt neglected. The property could benefit greatly from some added vibrancy—flowers, cacti, or any thoughtful desert landscaping touches to enhance the ambiance. What stood out most to me was the extreme understaffing. I felt genuinely sorry for the one young lady trying to service the entire pool area in the 115-degree Arizona heat. She had no ice vest, fan, or cooling support—something that’s not only inconsiderate, but frankly, a liability for the Marriott brand. On top of that, everything shut down by 4 PM. No poolside drinks after that unless you made the long walk to the main bar, which was also severely understaffed. There were no evening events, entertainment, or even small touches to create a memorable guest experience. Overall, the lack of hospitality and the absence of basic operational standards were frustrating. There is so much potential here, but until major improvements are made in staffing, cleanliness and guest services,I won’t be returning.

Price was amazing for the resort experience we received. Room was great and pool was awesome! Will totally come back next time we are in the area!

Property needed a thorough cleaning and lots of remodeling. The staff and food was awesome. They were excellent. But the property was not well taken care of. Looked very run down. Sky lights in the restaurant did not know that is what they were because you couldn'tsee through them. Some where even cracked.

Loved everything about this hotel it’s clean, bed is comfy the pools are amazing and kind staff
