The Cornish Arms

This is our second visit to this lovely pub. There is free parking behind the pub for residents. We were able to check in early, as our room was ready. All rooms are bespoke with large, comfortable beds, with good quality bedding and linens. The bathroom is well equipped with a good walk-in shower. The pub is a 'happy place' with good outdoor seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was an absolute feast. Table service was friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely amazing and tasted delicious. The tea and coffee flowed freely. All fabulous. Well done to everyone, we loved our visit and will be back! 👌

The pork chop I had was excellant but so it should have been at the price . This is the first pub meal too , and it is a very ordinary pub , where they serve the meal without vegetables, unless you pay extra, of course!. The drinks were naff but exorbitant and the bar staff looked like they were waiting to see the dentist. We didnt stay for desert. The whole thing , apart from the pork chop, was disapointing, depressing and very, very, ovepriced!

Ate here yesterday for lunch. The pros: Service was excellent and attentive. Cons: I ordered the lamb chop with fries, which cost £28. Since there were no vegetables or salad, I also ordered half a steamed courgette for £5. The chop was well cooked, but there was very little of it—minimally rendered fat and a large bone. The fries were fat oven chips. So, a tiny piece of pork, basic oven chips, and half a courgette for £33. I also ordered the souffle. It was approximately £12. It came a little undercooked and tasteless, with a tea plate accompaniment of a bit of clotted cream and ice cream served on some foul mango mix, likely scooped from a tin. My wife ordered the ox cheek. This was excellent, but again, tiny with no vegetables. Her pudding was a trifle served very oddly with a strawberry sorbet (why? Why no shortbread, etc.- odd choice). She had a glass of wine, and I had a diet Coke. All in, the bill was £103. We sat in the pub area. So, the meat was good, but the rest was not very good at all. I'd feel overcharged at £60, let alone over a hundred quid. I won't be going back.

Outstanding place to stay. Food, staff, position in Tavistock, etc, all 5 out of 5. Free car park at back if you are staying overnight. We really enjoyed our stay. The choice of beer and wine matches the outstanding food and service. Great location with easy walk around the town.

Always feel special here, lovely professional staff, food is always so tasty and interesting, lovely inside and out! The steak is INCREDIBLE! Go for the full 3 courses you won't be disappointed! The drinks are fairly priced and it's all such lovely local produce.

So after going a week early to our booking we found a delightful atmosphere the chap forgive me I can’t remember his name kindly acted quickly and we was able to grab a table and eat The food was unbelievable such taste made me want more but the food tasted that good it filled my tummy up Would love to try this in the summer as the out side looked really inviting to just hang out Great Vaule for money with its Michelin award for gastro pub was cheaper then some Plymouth restaurants

Only went for dinner which was excellent! Starters were lovely and main courses of the venison and pork chop, outstanding. The meat was tender, the accompaniments creative, delicious and beautifully presented. The service was great and not intrusive.Highly recommend.

We stayed here 3 nights and we often stay in 5* hotels around the world. The Cornish Arms has a lot going for it that gives that kind of experience. Our room was Stag which is the one with the copper bath in the pub photos and the highest price, but it was easily worth what we paid. The room is very spacious with a great chaise and the best hotel coffee machine I’ve ever used. The bathroom is amazing too with excellent water pressure, very high quality toiletries and that great bath. Linens are also top notch and we slept very well each night. The pub is opposite a kebab shop but provides earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Breakfasts were excellent and the full English (sorry full Cornish) was better than the 5* Cotswolds hotel we’d stayed in the night before. Service throughout was awesome and everyone was very helpful and very personable.

Popped in for an impromptu lunch and so glad we chose this place. Lovely pint of Estella, perfectly presented and the burgers were excellent. Friendly staff and nice decor. The pub has a really warm and welcoming feel about it. Wouldn’t hesitate to pop in again when in the area. Would like to try more of the menu.
