Voyager Ziwani Tented Camp

Visited ziwani camp on our safari tour we were greeted by everlyne although the brief on it being our honeymoon stay was lost in translation they did however rectify that,the accomodation was lovely and comfortable spacious too and the surroundings breathtaking loved watching the hippos on the lake,the night game drive wasn't so good the torch the used not so powerful so could barely see things unable to try to take any pictures as the operating game guide constantly moved it side to side make it difficult not to mention he had difficulty answering the questions we asked and just kept repeating the facts he did know but hey ho it was a good visit and the food was amazing too compliments to the chef

Ziwani Voyager camp is a sanctuary parallel to Tsavo West game park. A hidden gem You can fly in but I took the train from Nairobi and then a journey along a very good, tarmaced road with hardly any traffic The grounds are beautiful. The staff so friendly and helpful Night guide was so knowledgeable The food was delicious - thank you Chef Felix and brigade Sitting overlooking the dam full of hippos and crocodiles was perfect I can’t recommend this camp highly enough Thanks to Stanley, the manager and staff I’ll be back

We came from a higher-end safari camp, so at first, in comparison, we found Voyager a bit basic. But then we came around to liking it quite a bit. The pluses were definitely the setting in the green hilly gardens with trees and hammocks, around a beautiful damn with hippos and crocodiles, and lots of lovely vervet monkeys, all against the backdrop of the mighty Kilimanjaro - very peaceful. Another plus were the extremely knowledgable guides and the option to go for a long bush walk for no added fee which was really worth it, we learned a lot about animal droppings, behaviours and birds from Martin who went with us. The staff was super attentive and friendly, they looked after us very well, and were caring and friendly. Stephen even came with us on a full day game drive. In the evening they set up the dining tables around a fire place closer to the water which is really lovely. And at night, when the hippos come out to graze there are a number of guards who keep them away from the tents (better not to leave your tent after dark). The gift shop, once open, also had some lovely items but generally what you can also buy in any Masai Market. On the basic side: The food was good but not exquisite, the tents were fine but not cosy or elegant - there's tiled floor and the tents are quite close together, so not much privacy, there are no tea/coffee making facilities inside, no hairdryer and no special cosmetics. Light is minimal but that said, the bed was comfy and there's plenty of space including some chairs to sit outside on the little terrace. Wifi is only accessible in the reception area. The guides also worked as night guards and it didn't sound like there was all that much time for sleeping in between the two jobs. While the camp is directly next to the Tsavo West gate, it is in quite a remote corner of the park, so if you want to visit Mzima Springs and Shetani, you have to plan for a full game drive which I hadn't realised when I booked it. It was not a problem for us - in fact, we thoroughly enjoyed being out for a full day and we saw lots of game (even a leopard). You just have to factor it into your plan. We had an issue with our car and since they have no mechanic on site, we had to wait for two hours for a mechanic to arrive by motorbike - again, this wasn't a problem since we just skipped the evening game drive, and went on the bush walk and night safari instead but if you're on a tight schedule it can cause an issue. Overall, we were happy with our stay and also really enjoyed the peace and quiet, and beautiful scenery of Tsavo West.

Amazing place to stay! The tented rooms were lovely, with a nice warm shower and excellent views of the hippos. The food was decent and the monkeys were very fun to watch! We took part in the walking safari which was educational and our guide gave us great insight into all the footprints, animal dung and insects that roam the park. Really enjoyed our stay

Brilliant experience from start to finish. Exceptionally clean throughout with swift and unobstrusive room cleaning. Tasty drinks made by Jim-James at the bar, who spoke to us about Kenyan culture and local wildlife. Our game drives in the local area revealed many giraffes, impala, zebras, dikdik, elephants and beautiful birds. However the highlight was the walking safari, where experienced Masai guide Steven took around the bush to see hippos, crocs, giraffes and zebras up close. Every evening egrets come to roost in the beautiful tree by the lake, and hippos yawn and play as you eat your dinner. The food is delicious and high quality, there is a short menu but it’s all very tasty. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have everything you need. Calling this place two stars is absolutely not reflective of how memorable and amazing our stay was. The staff are very kind and attentive. We look forward to returning!

Voyager Ziwani Tented Camp is nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by warm and attentive staff who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The setting itself is stunning - the abundance of wildlife within the lodge grounds, namely hippos and crocs, makes it all the more special. Watching animals roam freely from the comfort of the camp added a special touch to the trip. Voyager Ziwani also offer activities free of charge - night safaris and walking safaris were highlights of our stay. These were led by highly knowledgeable and experienced guides who shared their insights about the area’s flora and fauna. Not to mention, all this against the backdrop of the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro. The amount of wildlife around the lodge itself without even entering the national park Tsavo West, which not to mention is a stone throw away from the Accomodation, makes it easier to spot animals. Every detail of this place radiates charm and authenticity, making it a perfect getaway for anyone seeking adventure, tranquility, and a connection with nature. Voyager Ziwani Tented Camp is a gem, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone planning a trip to this part of the world!
