Wensum Valley Hotel Golf and Country Club

Little bit dated but staff were very friendly, rooms were clean despite needing a bit of a make over. Zero Wi-Fi in the rooms which was frustrating. Second time staying at this hotel as the surroundings and golf course are stunning.

An excellent venue for a mens golf society on a budget. This 1990,s hotel has large meeting/bar area,s. good sized bedrooms, comfortable beds, with a well filled hospitality room tray, Negatives,No wi fi in bedrooms,distinct lack of hot water,heated towel rail in bedroom not working.No controlled room heating or cooling. Premier inn/Travel lodge rooms I rate at 9/10. My wensum room 6/10. Simple 4 option starters,mains, puddings choice for our group. All very good and enjoyed by everyone Buffet type breakfast (mains being served) was again very good, could not fault it. Golf courses very challenging for a group of seasoned golfers, and generally in very good condition (could be extremely wet and unplayable in the winter months). Large, well stocked Pro shop, driving range ect. We found all the staff were helpful,friendly,accommodating. hard working and they were the biggest asset to this hotel.We hope the owners will be able to invest some money in a future program of refurbishment of the rooms. We all agreed that we would be happy to return again next year. Well done all.

Local Woodfords wherry beer on tap,£4.30 a pint. Adnams NON ALCOHOLIC ( duty free ) Ghost ship £6.10 a bottle. Certainly feels like that are catching their driving customers out....... .............................................

As part of an annual golf trip amongst friends we chose this venue and hotel. The golf course was very good and the quality in autumn was good. The accommodation however was very poor. We all felt coming up the 18th fairway that we were looking at an office block with converted accommodation. It was very budget rooms were clean but extremely outdated and very basic. The walls were thin and rooms noisy. We also had no hot water and I had to go to three separate areas, my room, the golf changing room and health club to have a warm shower. I never got a warm shower all three locations had lukewarm warm water. The food was ok but basic. The staff were friendly and helpful so as long as expectations are not high this is value for a golf weekend, but wouldn’t recommend purely as a hotel

I have to confess that I am a member of this establishment so have a vested interest in its success, but having just come off the golf course in need of a beer and some food, I was greeted enthusiastically by the bar staff despite the fact that the bar area was crowded with golf society folk who had obviously had a few bevvies, a private party and a full restaurant. The staff were literally running to make sure food was getting to where it was needed. There was a delay on food and we were advised in advance. Despite this our food was well cooked and very tasty. Special thanks to Maddy and Adam who always go the extra mile. Just be aware guys that you are appreciated by us members who see your hard work and dedication. PS this is a golf club so if you want a cheap pint get the number 29 bus to Norwich and get off at Hellesdon.

Room clean with everything we needed. Very noisy till after 3 in the morning with shouting in the corridor and outside in the courtyard on Friday and Saturday night. We could hear the television in the next room which was on all night so not a relaxing stay. Drinks expensive. Food average. Staff were very pleasant. Ample parking

Arrived at The Wensum Valley Hotel Golf and Country Club to be greeted by staff who were surly, offish and definitely not customer friendly when we checked in at the reception to our two rooms. There was no welcome, or the offer of information such as; where the restaurant was or what the dinner or breakfast times were. We were just given the room keys and not even told the way to the rooms until we asked. We then asked about eating in the restaurant that evening and we were told that we needed to ask at the bar. We asked at the bar and we were told we would have to go to the restaurant. At the restaurant, we were told that they were full with a party of 80 male golfers, but that we could squeeze in if we wanted. We went into Norwich instead and had a really nice meal at Bill’s. On our return we decided to have a nightcap in the bar. Unfortunately, the bar was extremely busy and there was loud music emanating from a nearby function room. We had one drink, which the bar wouldn’t charge to the room and we retired to our rooms. Sadly the loud music from the function followed us and the noise in the room was unbearable. We ended up asking at reception to change rooms which we did. Rooms are clean and decorated, but could perhaps have some pictures hanging to break up the wall expanses. There is no complementary water in the room and to get a 330ml bottle of still water from the bar was £3+. Again the cost of the water wouldn’t be charged to the room. The en-suite toilet and shower room is the best feature of the bedroom, albeit without a toilet roll holder. The internet signal in our rooms was abysmal. Nothing at all, then one bar max!! When one bar, hardly anything loading. I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel, we definitely won’t be!!

Very basic room. Needed tissues. No toilet roll holder. Small bathroom. No water glasses. No shaving light. Not enough storage drawers for clothes. No Beauty parlour. Food below average. It is worth spending a little more money and staying somewhere else. Pleasant staff.

Great venue, well catered for and friendly staff. Food was very good, if too abundant, no worry about going hungry. Rooms are very comfy and well equipped. Fantastic facilities. My third visit and looking forward to the next one. See you next year, thanks for a wonderful visit.
