We visit La Verrerie du Gast every June as part of our trip to the 24 Heures du Mans. Every year it’s a really special experience that I will never get tired of recommending. The setting, in the Forêt d’Ecouves, is magical, peaceful and restful but within easy reach of Alençon and Sées. The rooms are eclectic and pretty, with high quality en suite bathrooms. Valerie (who speaks fluent English) provides a wonderful breakfast of home made fare, in a pretty room overlooking the sweeping drive. (This year I found out that the fireplace is original to the house, made from Caen stone). If you’re looking for a quiet break in a beautiful setting, thighs will suit you very well. And if you can’t bear to leave the world behind during your stay, free wi-fi is provided.

From the moment we arrived , the warm welcome , friendliness and made feel at home A lovely clean bedroom with great views over the gardens A drink with the owners and their friends . A great chat , with French and English spoken Showed around the small but amazing farm . Told the history of the area and the house Best breakfast ever in France . All home made and served with class We will be back to this wonderful gem Dave and Alan
