Mercure Penang has been my primary choice every time I visit Penang. However I noticed the condition is getting poor. I can't really sleep for the 1st night as I can hear very clear people talking and laughing next door. My room type is a connecting room, the sound insulation is so poor, I can hear easily the sounds via a connecting door. Suggest the management can sleep a night to experience yourself. The room has ants and lizards though. The breakfast is not good in variety, and mediocre taste. The egg station has no crew at all times, even asking then have wait for long time to out from kitchen. The quality U can see from the picture. And because it's always no crew, I see the birds can freely eating the food, the other picture shown.

We had a good time staying here. As the hotel attached to the beach, my kid is so happy to play at the beach and next jump to the pool. Swimming pool lifeguard, he's so friendly and kind hearted. Hotel room is very clean and comfortable, food was okay, and most importantly it's located not too far from the city. Will definitely repeat whenever we come to Penang again.

Wow! The view from the room facing the ocean is breathtaking. You can just stand there and see it all day long. It's so mesmerizing. The room is big with all the facilities provided. The pool is also facing the ocean. It's worth the price. Right opposite the hotel there are so many stalls to check out. Bars along the beach are walking distance.

El hotel nuevo decorado es muy bueno, el personal de recepción también ayudará a traer el equipaje. La cama y las almohadas del hotel son muy cómodas. Las toallas también son muy mullidas, como las de un hotel de 5 estrellas. No hay espejo en la habitación, solo hay uno en el baño. El ventilador del inodoro no funciona, por lo que no se seca y el espejo siempre está empañado. En general, fue una estadía agradable. Vale la pena lo que pagué. Probablemente volveremos si decidimos explorar la ciudad y no quedarnos demasiado tiempo en el hotel.

La estancia en general aquí es agradable. Muy cerca de la playa como literalmente en la parte trasera del hotel. Sin embargo, todo el lugar está un poco deteriorado y anticuado como el desgaste aquí y allá, pero aún así está muy limpio y bien mantenido. No se proporcionan servicios además de toallas y agua. El canal de televisión está bien. Piscina con linda vista en la azotea. Apto para reunión familiar. Solo debes tener cuidado con muchas hormigas si colocas tu comida en la despensa. Tranquilidad por la noche que es la mejor parte.

AAchie MartaBrand new building and room, so everything still clean and well-maintained. Breathtaking views from the room's window, all you can see is sea and skies! One only complain is, unfortunately we found someone's panty (maybe from the previous guest) still hanging behind the bathroom's door 😬 But overall, good stay.

El personal de la oficina de la Frontera de la tarde, Suba, fue muy útil durante mi estancia de 2 noches, y también pudo conocer al director de viviendas, Derek, que fue muy amable y me trajo a cenar en un restaurante local llamado Yean Yean!
En general, era perfecto para mí y esperaré volver aquí otra vez!

Room was basic but clean. Stairs to loft bed have no railing so your balance has to be okay.
What I liked: it’s very near the beach (but be careful going down the steep steps with a rusting and questionable guardrail). And it’s also a minute’s walk from the nearby food place with many affordable options for dinner. Not far from the bus stop. Penang’s bus services are not bad.
What I didn’t like: the positions of the room lighting are poor, including the bathroom where the opaque shower curtain blocks the bathroom light, and the loft where the bare bulb is right above your head and glows even when off. I unscrewed the bulb in order to stop that. Also, not many breakfast options nearby.
Music from a nearby nightspot could be heard along with some firecracker type noises some nights, but these died down by about 10pm so not a problem for me.
In all, I would rate this place a solid 4/5 and I wouldn’t mind staying here again.

1) Customer support WhatsApp replies very quickly and politely :).
2) Many food establishments nearby. Search “claypot restaurant” we ate there 4 days in a row even after shifting away from this hotel.
3) Swimming pool was nice and clean.
4) Antique decorations in the hotel looks amazing.
5) had 2 private carpark lots in the compound, there are parking spots outside of the compound as well, just unsure if it is legal. We were lucky to have at least 1 lot in the hotel during our stay.
Can be improved:
1) Hotel has no reception, make sure customers gets their check in details before they arrive the hotel or at least just before 3pm.
2) Wifi speed can be faster. It failed a few times during my 3d2n stay there. The Mrs and I couldn’t even load google maps. Quite frustrating. Had to use my data.
3) Sound proofing maybe? We had a room facing the Main Street and in our room there’s a door that used to be able to open and go to the balcony but it’s blocked by a large wardrobe. This allowed the sound to travel through the door gaps.
4) toilet can be cleaner, check the floor traps and the make sure it’s clean, cleaner left a ball of hair stuck at the floor traps.
5) toilet floor can have anti slip strips. Really slippery. Had to ban my toddler from going into the toilet.
6) too many mosquitoes at the hotel. Fortunately we didn’t have it in our room.
