Blue Sky Guesthouse

This was, hands down, the best stay we have had in Japan. The host was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, the room was clean and comfortable, and the food was great. We pre-ordered dinner for our stay and also ate breakfast, both of which were delivered to our rooms at set times, making planning easy. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Blue Sky Guesthouse. We were made very welcome, and the room was clean and comfortable. The location was great for us as we were walking the Kumano Kodo Trail. There are many onsens around the area which we made good use of. We had organised dinner and breakfast through Blue Sky, and it was delicious 😋 We would definitely stay again

A great experience staying in a Japanese style accommodation. The owner very helpful and the breakfast served in room was lovely. We ordered a meal for the first night and this was delivered to our room which meant we didn't have to go out again looking for restaurants. The bus stop and Food store 5 minutes walk away, check opening times and days.

The perfect place to relax in the heart of Kumano. Close to the pilgrimage treks, to the facilities of Hongu village but discretely situated on a hilly forest edge, by a small creek. The place is perfectly clean, the food is great, the design simple on the traditional japanese way. We will definately sleep here if we come back.

We stayed here one night after two days on the Nakahechi trail . The guesthouse is pleasantly located 1km along the road from Hongu to Shingu very easy to walk from the Great Tori about 200m from the bus stop on the Hongu to Shingu route. We found the place very quiet and relaxing. Room 3 was spacious with views of the forest. The en-suite bathroom and WC were very clean and a hot soak very appreciated. Evening dinner and breakfast were served in the room with delicious range of Japanese items. Breakfast included bacon, sausage, eggs, corn chowder and lovely yoghurt. There is a common area with plenty of information, a kitchenette, laundry area ( washer free, dryer ¥300 for 90mins), complimentary coffee and good internet connection. All the reviews and photos are accurate. The owner mans the whole operation and was very helpful providing information about the bus and changing notes and an early breakfast service so we caught the early bus to make the train. We would love to stay again here.
