My stay in Weiyu was not great, unfortunately.
To start, when I first arrived, they turned me away, saying they can't host foreigners due to their license type even though it says on the website that they accept all nationalities. I left and sat nearby to chat to trip.com's customer service to try and find a new hotel. 10 minutes later, they came after me to say I can check in now, I was tired, and it was easier to do just that, so I checked in. To start the room is not well kept at all, mouldy, furniture falling apart, bathroom door half broken and I asked for a 'non-smoking' room, there was a sign of "do not smoke" in the room, fine, but the room shared a window with the room on the side, and there was a small gap in the wall between both rooms, where the window sits. The person next door was loud during the day, and I could hear it all as if it was right next to me. They stopped being loud around 10pm or so, so I was fine with that, the real problem was that it felt like they were smoking all night because I could barely breath properly in the room, all the smoke smell was concentrated in my room and it was absolutely horrible. I had to hold my head under the covers throughout the whole night so I could breathe, but the lack of fresh oxygen was also an issue then. Horrible experience, unfortunately.
