Stayed here overnight while driving through upstate ny on vacation. We try to stay exclusively at Marriotts for the loyalty points, and this was the only one in the area. We were hesitant about the hotel (We even almost cancelled and rebooked at a competitors property) and, ultimately, It wasn't worth the premium price we paid, but still perfectly fine for an overnight. Our room was clean (except for a giant chocolate (fingers crossed) stain on the side of the mattress cover that we didn't discover until morning. Other parts of the room were getting shabby (hard water stain in the shower, cracking paint) but still clean. There was a group of under-supervised preteens running through the hallways for about an hour. (They knocked on our door and ran away a few times.) I was concerned we would continue hearing them all night, but, by 9:30 they were either wrangled into a room for the night or got bored with the game. I share this anecdote to illustrate that the walls must not be too thin, otherwise I'm sure we would have continued to hear them all night. It is true that there's nothing within 5-10 mins walking distance of the hotel. It almost looks like Marriott chose the site assuming the area would be developed, and then nothing happened. Parking is free and available across the street in an uncovered lot. It didn't feel totally safe leaving things in the car overnight, but there were street lamps and cars much nicer than ours in the lot :D The property won't be my first choice if we come through the area again (there are cheaper and/or better-located hotels), but if this is a comparable price to other sites, I'd probably come back.
