TownePlace Suites Harrisburg Hershey

We got last minute tix to the Penn State game so we found the price at the Towneplace Suites in Harrisburg to be reasonably priced and the location was convenient. We were on the third floor rather than the top floor and there was no insulation between us and the people above us. We could hear every footstep for hours, and I do mean every footstep. Couldn't even block out the sound with ear plugs. I then realized that walking on the laminate part of our floor was loud and we were probably bothering the people below us. So, very little sleep. Plus we also heard the highway noise. While we frequent Marriott properties, this was our first stay at a Towneplace Suites, and we found it to be very basic. There were no USB plugs...huh? Clientele was more family oriented with lots of kids running up and down the halls and between rooms. My husband's side of the bed was uncomfortable and lumpy, while mine was a bit more comfortable. The cabinet doors in the kitchenette were all scuffed, misaligned and not able to close all the way. The towel rod in the bathroom was placed next to the toilet and not near the sink or shower. Very odd placement. The worst for me was that I got a bug bite in a very private place. I never found any bug in the bed, but the bite wasn't there when I went to sleep, but it sure was there when I got up.

Elite Marriott member who spends 100+ nights a year as a business and leisure traveler. The property and staff were all absolutely top notch. 5/5 recommend. The staff, location and property itself really makes this a nice place to stay. First, I want to mention and thank a couple staff members by name. GM Andrew Brandt was absolutely exceptional. He deftly resolved an issue for us, and was kind enough to quickly assist. Also, Martin Tayac gave us a nice upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite. We visited in early September for business Checkin was a breeze, and staff happily brought us more toiletries, extra towels, etc. Clean, spacious 2 bedroom suite. We will see you again!

Very clean and breakfast was great. Hot tub was down and they were waiting on a part which these days can take forever. Can't hate on them for that unless it's been down for months and it sounded like it just happened. Pillows weren't the best but that's our fault for not asking for additional. I would definitely stay here again.

The best part about this place was the staff members (front desk and people who runs the breakfast), unfortunately the hotel itself is terrible. We walked in the room and it smelled like a wet dog. We had stains and scratches in various spots like bed sheets, curtains, lamp covers. The fridge is in a corner, that blocks it from opening fully. Housekeeping comes every other day, so you may have to ask for towels a couple of times. We normally like staying at the Marriott brand of hotels but this place was not for us.

We found the staff to be exceptionally friendly. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The woman who served the breakfast bar was particularly hospitable and kind. On the day that we left she found out that we had been there to visit our brother who was in the hospital and that he had died. She wrote us a truly beautiful sympathy card. It really was comforting. This is our go to place to stay whenever in Harrisburg.

I really hemmed and hawed over where to stay on our recent family vacation to Hershey Park and we ended up here for a couple of reasons. The main reason I chose this hotel is because it had a suite with 2 bedrooms at a reasonable rate. The space worked for us. Apparently, we snore and bother our children all night when we are all in the same room, lol! Having two bedrooms for the same price as one room with 2 double beds closer to the park was appealing. I also liked that we had a large refrigerator, microwave, stove, kitchen sink, and cabinets. That being said, we made use of the refrigerator, sink, and cabinets to store snacks. We never heated anything up in the microwave or stove so I guess they really weren't essential to our stay. This hotel is older and shows wear. It's not a deal breaker but it is a little off-putting. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The pull-out couch was not. We found it to be unusable as a bed. Not a big deal for us because we were only 4 people but something to note if you are counting on that extra bed. Breakfast was good. There were plenty of options and my children said the waffles were the best they've ever had. The chairs in the breakfast room are older and look worn and dirty but they served their purpose. The location was convenient to Hershey's Chocolate World and Hershey Park (20 mins) where we spent most of our time. However, we needed a few essentials and went to a nearby Walmart around 9pm and we were questioning how safe the area was. I never felt unsafe at the actual hotel though. If I had to I would stay here again, but given the plentiful choices in the area I think we would try a different hotel the next time we visit.

This is a fine property. The rooms are on the small side for a TownePlace Suites, but everything necessary is there and clean. My only petty gripe: $3.87 for parking. This is a normal suburban property with a normal parking lot. That's just silly nickle-and-diming. I didn't notice it in the fine print when I received the confirmation, so it's on me, but it was still annoying to see it on the final bill.

Excellent! The rooms were clean, everything in working order, and comfortable beds. The staff and breakfast team were friendly and attentive. The location was convenient, restaurants in walking distance with a fabulous Hibachi option that everyone loves because of the reasonable prices and quality of food. Close enough to Hersheypark which was why we visited. We stayed in a 2 BR suite which had enough privacy for 2 couples. Will stay again!

Would definitely come here again! Easy check-in experience, was recommended to local restaurants and attractions for my time in the area. Room was comfortable and exceeded my expectations. I stopped by a local pizza place, but could cook a meal in my room if I wanted. There was a gym and pool, but I was so tired so I stayed in my room. Will be coming here exclusively when I come back to Hbg!
