Guesthouse Gimbur

Cosy and calm accommodation by the sea on the way to or from Siglufjordur or the Fljot area. Superb location for Ski touring or Heli + other activity or just passing by. It´s really worth it to skip the highway no 1 and take the route 76. The Gimbur Guesthouse is a great choice, spacious room, a good kitchen facilities and area nice rooms some with private bath and some with share bathroom. Upstairs there are plenty of space for some leisure and the view out to the sea which seems endless and the mountains is breathtaking. - I enjoyed the hot tub very much, the only noise out there were the sound of the birds. Very relaxing . Be aware that you need to buy the groceries either in Saudarkrokur or in Siglufjordur ( 1 hour each way ) The lady of the house was very nice and welcome . I´ll be back if traveling in this area again. Recommend this highly.

We, a group of 15 adults, were accommodated for one night on our Iceland trip. We were greeted in the spacious house, our rooms were warm, cozy and spacious. Dinner preparations in the fully equipped kitchen was a breeze and sitting all together in the gorgeous room upstairs was more than enough for all of us. Next morning we were greeted by a lavish breakfast including homemade pancakes - never had better pancakes in my life. Everything was just great and I was very happy with our stay. And seeing northern lights whilst relaxing outside in a hot tub is something one does not get anywhere or anytime in their life. I was A EXPERIENCE! I highly recommend spending some time in the Gimbur Guesthouse!

I stayed at Gimbur over one night – a perfect stop after a long day of travelling. Sjöfn, the host, was very welcoming, and the room was nice and clean with very comfortable bed! I enjoyed the stunning view of the sunset over the fjord, while relaxing at the guesthouse in the hot tub, on the patio. I highly recommend staying at Gimbur guesthouse – and hopefully I can visit again soon. The place is well located with one of my favorite Icelandic small towns in only 30 km distance, Siglufjordur, not to mention the closeness to Hofsos which is a hidden gem at the North Side of Iceland, with its infinity pool and beautiful nature. -Katrín

This was one of the places my husanbd and I visited on our honeymoon (and the best one!). Everything was perfect! Great location to relax and enjoy watching Northern Lights, quiet surroundings with the view of the sea and the mountains, clean, comfortable and cosy house with the best hosts ever. Sjöfn and Jón made us feel like home. Sjöfn is also a very good cook. We really hope to come back again. Greetings from Daniel and Ivana from Croatia! :)
