We don’t often do reviews but thought we needed to with the Rose Village in the Nessebar area of Sunny Beach. We booked the Rose Village mainly on price, the fact it was all inclusive (a must with kids), and that the majority of the reviews were on the positive side. After booking we started to notice a few negative comments which worried us a little before arriving, we needn’t have worried. The Rose Village isn’t a wow hotel, it’s an ‘is what it is’ place. It is however clean, the staff are great (never came across any who were rude), the food was of a good standard and a good choice, the inclusive drinks weren’t branded but were drinkable (and no small measures). A number of people whinged about the food every meal time, all British unfortunately. Yes, there were chips and spaghetti every lunch and evening meal, but this was only a small part of a decent selection, and it was the whinging families kids that filled their plates with chips, with tomato sauce anyway. In addition to the chips and spaghetti there was always another potato or rice side, and there was always four/five other dishes in the hot area, two or three of a Bulgarian nature, and one or two like burger or nuggets. There was always a good choice of salads, cheeses and fruits, and also little cakes, pastries and ice creams. Breakfast was decent too, always hot choice of bacon, beans, scrambled egg, plus different sausages, pastry and pancakes. Variety of bread for the self-toaster and fruit, plus honey and choc spreads. We had no complaints but we did keep away from chicken just in case and stuck to pork and veal. We think the complainers who thought that buying in a pizza every night over the all-inclusive should probably stick to Blackpool! The AI drink selection consisted of beer, all wines, vodka, white and red rum plus a couple of Bulgarian drinks that could also be mixed to make other drinks. All soft drinks and coffee to. Yes, this did stop at 9.30pm. We had ‘penthouse’ twin bedroom apartment which was top floor (ovs) and had plenty of space, kitchen with fridge and a tv, aircon in each bedroom, wifi and iron. It wasn’t flash, but it was functional and cleaned at least every other day. The second bedroom could have benefited from a wardrobe. Pool area was cleaned and tidied every morning, some of the pool mosaic tiles were missing, and strangely no grout below the waterline, but nothing that would show up negatively when posting your photos online. Oh, and yes, seagulls do wake you up early in the morning. Sunny Beach needs to have a seagull cull. To sum up, its a good hotel for the price. If you want bigger AI selection pay a little more and go to Antalya. We couldn't complain for what we paid and great to fly from Teesside Airport.
