Hotel Stundarfridur

Booked this cottage for a one-night stopover before touring Snæfellsnes Peninsular the next day. The online booking was made directly on the hotel website, there was complimentary breakfast provided for direct booking. It was really value for money. The lady owner was very friendly, she provided some briefing to us about this place, breakfast timing and the cottage before handed us the key to the cottage. The cottage I booked was for 4 pax. I was assigned Cottage 3 which has a sofa bed in the living room and queen bed in the bedroom. The lovely cottage has limited space but comfortable enough for a family stay. Some cooking utensils were incomplete, nevertheless it was good to have a washer in the bathroom. Wifi and TV available in the cottage. Beds were clean and comfortable. The location of this place is in the middle of nowhere, just along the main road of route 54 to Stykkishólmur from Búðardalur. However, the scenery from our cottage was spectacular. Breakfast was decent, croissant available as well. Improvement needed is to have more shelves and clothes hanger in the bedroom, bathroom and living room. Otherwise, there is limited space to hang clothes and place our belongings.

Cute little place with (what we assume, thanks fog, are) pretty views and a cozy atmosphere. Room was a decent size, not silver spacious but enough to move around. The bathroom was small but functional except the shower did not drain very well and made a mess of the rest of the bathroom. The dinner was okay, good flavor but not well cooked (dry chicken) and breakfast was good but basic.

This hotel is the dream place for nature lovers looking for silence and peace. It's in the middle of nowhere but perfectly refurbished, cozy and warm. The staff is really kind and food is good. The rooms have big windows from which you can even watch auroras! Totally recommend.

While planning our 10 day drive around the ring road I wanted to stay at least one night at a family run place that isn’t visible from the highway and feels hidden away - this place met that criteria just like I hoped it would. Family was all super friendly and we sat in the restaurant area once we checked in and enjoyed a beer while we planned our next day. Dinner was solid with nothing too fancy (you order upon check-in to avoid food waste). Tip - avoid room 1 which shares a wall with the kitchen area… you can hear everything including the dishwasher after they’re finished dinner service.

Abbiamo soggiornato presso l'hotel Stundarfriður per una sola notte durante il nostro tour in Islanda. L'hotel, che dispone di sole sette camere, assomiglia ad una baita montana, grazie alla presenza del legno praticamente ovunque, che lo rende caldo ed accogliente. Si trova nelle vicinanze di Stykkishólmur e lo si raggiunge percorrendo una strada sterrata (come spesso accade in Islanda...) Camera davvero ampia e confortevole, così come il bagno. Da sottolineare la gentilezza, disponibilità, nonché simpatia della Signora alla Reception, che nonostante l'ora tarda ci ha anche preparato la cena. Colazione nella media. Lo consiglio senza dubbio. PS. Adorabile anche il cane Prince!

L’Hotel Stundarfriður una costruzione tutta in legno ricavata da un precedente magazzino agricolo la cui fotografia si può vedere appesa nella sala da pranzo. Sorge isolato dalla cittadina in un altipiano fra i monti visibili dalla terrazza. Ambiente semplice, familiare e caldo. Accoglienza e servizio gentilì. Buona la cucina del piccolo ristorante. Discreta la prima colazione
