This was the most uncomfortable night in a hotel I’ve had in a hotel in a long time due to a dangerously hot room with insufficient ventilation. I didn’t have the facility to measure the temperature but am convinced it must have breached healthy limits. There were some important learning points nonetheless: Firstly, if the temperature is high, then it is imperative that the hotel does not allocate rooms on the highest floor if there is no air conditioning, as was the case in our room. Also, the window design should allow an opening of more than a few inches. This can be done if the opening is at the top of the window. We did have a small room fan but it was not powerful enough to make it possible to sleep and be comfortable.
