Mont Rochelle

I have written a review for the beautiful Mont Rochelle previously, but had to come back to review again. I’ve been fortunate enough to return 3 years in a row and they exceed expectations every single time. The customer care is impeccable, the rooms are stunning, and there are so many little touches of detail which don’t go unnoticed. The staff genuinely care and want to help in any way possible. Nothing seems too much trouble. The wonderful management even noticed that I loved their homemade biscuits and gave me a box to take away with me and a beautifully handwritten personalised note - how thoughtful!! Mont Rochelle is hands down my favourite place to visit and I hope to be fortunate enough to come again. Thank you 😊

A boutique hotel set in paradise where nothing is too much trouble for the happy & welcoming staff. Wonderful food and wine and the perfect base for time in Franschhoek, although you probably won't want to leave the property to explore it. Best views from a hotel room we've experienced, and the wine tasting is a must.

Mont Rochelle is a beautiful hotel near a beautiful town with great staff and facilities. I could leave the review there but it wouldn’t do this lovely property justice. From being collected at Cape Town Airport by , the one and only, X who entertained us mightily throughout our stay, until we were dropped off at the airport, again by X, we had a wonderful time and plan to return for a longer stay in the future. The hotel is set in the hillside just above Franschhoek. The setting is sublime with cloud capped mountains, lush green valley , vineyards and a lake all visible as you walk around the immaculate grounds. Breathtaking in fact. On arrival we were greeted by Sarah who made us feel so welcome that we felt we had known her for years. She is a treasure and a credit to the hotel. Sarah arranged everything for us and nothing was a problem to her. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room (19) was very well appointed and very close to the hub of the hotel. Outside our balcony was a beautiful tree. There was a strong wind during our visit and the sound of the tree and wind at night might be an issue for some light sleepers. Miko, the main restaurant was excellent and we had two dinners there which were lovely. My wife is a vegetarian and she was delighted with her choices which is a further compliment to the hotel as often elsewhere she has limited options. Geraldine , who attended us, was great, very helpful and funny. We enjoyed a spa treatment very much and wished we had time for more, next time we certainly will. Thanks to Yasmin and Anna Marie. We walked into Franschhoek one morning and found it took roughly 20 minutes. It was an easy walk past various wine estates. The return journey being uphill was slightly longer but not difficult. The town is very pretty and has many restaurants and craft/art shops/galleries. We should probably have spent more time there as it was very nice. We planned to dine in the town on our second night and Sarah had noted down a few recommendations for us but advised that ,as it was peak season, it might not be possible to get our first choice on a given day . She was right and we managed to get an online booking for the next night with a deposit being required. It all worked out very well indeed as the restaurant was incredible! The hotel had us collected after our meal which was great . We had a wine tasting at the Country Kitchen included in our rate and we had lunch there too which was super. From all of the above it is easy to see that we were smitten by Mont Rochelle and certainly plan to return for a longer stay. Thank you to everyone for making us so welcome. When we visited the roads in the area were subject to major roadworks so if you are planning a self drive holiday allow for the possibility of lengthy delays.

Wonderful stay as usual… Looking forward to coming back next year… As usual, Mont Rochelle has exceeded our expectations… As returning guests, the experience was even better this time and we felt really at home…and what a wonderful feeling!!!

A PERFECT IDYLLIC HOTEL - this is our 10th visit in 11 years only having to is 2021. We love it here. We always stay in a Cabernet suite which has its own terrace and loungers with a stunning view of the valley . Our room is beautiful, spotless and luxurious and there is a turn down service as well as laundry service which returns the clothes wrapped in tissue beautifully laundered. The staff treat us like Royalty and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are absolutely fabulous and The Miko Restaurant is fantastic for lunch or dinner with a varied menu and beautiful food and wine and service. The hotel has every facility you could want including an excellent Spa. The hotel is quiet and relaxing with lovely gardens and a great outdoor swimming pool. And the General manager Elizma and her deputy Annette look after us and all their guests so beautifully with such a warm welcome. This is a great Hotel in a beautiful village - Franschhoek. We have already booked for February next year ! The hotel offers a free wine tasting in its Manor House near to the hotel.

Booked Otters Bend as were were going on the wine tram and didn’t want to drive. Booking in line was easy and communication from Mary was great. Location is perfect, a short walk from the town centre. Quiet and secure. Contacted the owner on the day and we were able to park our car securely before we went on the tour. Accommodation is basic but very clean. Would recommend
