Excellent modern room that was exceptionally clean , the staff are fantastic, we stayed two nights here whilst visiting the Beamish Museum. If you have paid for bed and breakfast the breakfast is served in the Rangos Restaurant which is operated as a separate business but within the hotel building . The breakfast was absolutely excellent, we booked a Saturday evening meal at Rangos , again the food and Rangos staff along with the menu pricing are excellent . Great hotel already planning a revisit back to the Beamish Museum so we will be rebooking at this hotel again which would be our fourth time , many thanks too all .

Llegamos a las 13:20 para almorzar, el restaurante/bar no era demasiado ocupado, pero la apariencia del bar/restaurante es muy agradable. Me gustan los retreados para la cama de los nuevos propietarios han ido. Hace muchos años había usado este pub y pensé que lo haría un intento. El menú no es muy complicado que encontré grande , opté por el comienzo del pico, desgraciadamente esto ya no estaba disponible, así que fue para el cerdo de la vejiga, me alegra que el pico no estaba en como el cerdo de la vejiga era delicioso. Found a super deal exactly when we needed to visit - Great. Pros loads of parking Beautiful hotel Magnificently converted stables- restaurant staff are all lovely - and the night porter had already passed my complaint over to the reception team at hand over breakfast was plentiful - the eggs benedict was amazing! small lift for accessing rooms with luggage Sunday roast- wow!!! Cons The room was super warm upon arrival - but easily changed wifi- patchy The bath in room - plug didn't fully seal so constantly had to keep adding more water which seemed wasteful Night 1 - bed was quite hard but was able to sleep Night 2 - the thudding base from a function (a Monday night end of Nov!) reverberated in our room as we faced onto a courtyard walkway. I assumed, with fireworks at 1030pm, it would end at 11. noise continued so I thought OK it'll be 1130.... then again midnight. By 1234 I'd had enough as I needed sleep and I have tinnitus. The porter advised me it would end in 20 mins - ie 1am. It did so I was then able to get to sleep. Tips to visitors - if you are not attending an event yourself, and you wish to retire earlier than 1am, ask the hotel if there are any events planned. If so ask for a room facing out / over the gardens Mobile signal is poor due to the thick walls of this gorgeous old building Tips to management - check the bath plug in rm 214 (if not already, as mentioned at check out) check with guests, esp if hotel not full, if they are attending any late night event on - if not give them rooms elsewhere (not the courtyard area where the bass reverberates!) , or pop a note through doors and offer a room change. Breakfast - it would be nice if some hot items could be add ons ie eggs benedict with additional tomatoes or mushrooms or beans etc Overall - had I stayed for the first night only then I'd have given 4 stars but the poor quality of sleep on night 2 meant I had to reduce my score Would we stay again? Only after ensuring either no events were taking place, or that we were given a room on the outer part of the hotel. Alternatively we'd def return for a meal.

An excellent bed and breakfast venue. The staff could not do more for you. The hotel is very clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. There was as much free tea and coffee in the bedrooms as u wanted. There was a kitchen on the landing u could use the iron there and put fresh milk in the fridge, make a small snack. Breakfast was very good. Good quality ingredients. Excellent service. My daughter is gluten free and the staff were so helpful and had four cereals maybe more to choose from gluten free bread and sausages. The breakfast was better than any hotel for our daughter. This is a brilliant place stay if u are going to a function at the South Causey Inn, it is literally a six minute walk from the South Causy Inn, it was perfect I would highly recommend the Ball Alley excellent value for money really friendly helpful staff/ owner. WiFi was good.
