"Arrived 17th September. The room was dated and on the first night the bathroom flooded, water came through the smail drain on the floor, at first reception told me just to leave it and let it run away until I insisted someone looked at it as it would happen everyday. It was fixed. The food. Breakfast was mediocre, the juices were left to run out and they didn't seem to want to refil them, the evening meal was awful, one night it tasted like they had spilt the salt into the food. The dining room is like a canteen. We ended up eating out even though we had paid for half board. The barman, on our first day seemed chatty but for the rest of the week you was lucky to get a grunt out of him. It's location on the beachfront cannot be faulted but there are plenty of properties along the front on the beach, I recommend you look elsewhere."

"Nos hemos alojado en los apartamentos Heliotrope en julio de 2025 y, desgraciadamente, tuvimos que experimentar una experiencia muy desagradable. La alojamiento fue muy contaminado – en varias áreas del apartamento se produjeron pasteles. A pesar de una reclamación inmediata en el terreno, no se hizo nada, ni limpieza ni cambio de habitación. El personal se mostró totalmente desinteresado. También se ha informado de la acontecimiento en varias ocasiones, incluyendo fotos. El hotel está muy cerca de la playa y la zona de Stalis tenía muchas cosas que hacer. Nuestros niños amaban absolutamente el equipo de entretenimiento Matis y Romi, que mantuvieron los niños entretenidos todos los días y que realmente amaban pasar tiempo juntos. El hotel está en una zona de la ciudad de Hano, donde el personal del restaurante es muy amable, especialmente el director que nos ha hablado todos los días. "Pro: It is a great hotel with very clean and spacious swimming pools . Common areas are well maintained. No need to reserve sunbeds at 6 am because you can always get one. The staff in the restaurant is very well organized and there is always a free table and not very big queues (in June ) . The food was excellent and lots of variety also very tasty . There were 80% german tourists but everyone spoke English. Quite close to the beach and main road of Stalis. Rooms were spacious and quiet even though we stayed quite close to the entertainment amphitheater. Lots of children and babies so maybe not for young people who want to party. Cons: The Coffee should definitely improve, just from the maschine and not good. Also we reserved the Italian restaurant but not very good to be honest ( only salads, pasta and pizza) . Beach chairs are not included and is a little expensive in my option 18 euros/ pair."

"These apartments have just been taken over in May this year by the host Eli and her family. Our room was spacious we stayed in room 14 on ground floor. Grounds and pool area kept spotless by hard working staff, we love the beach so did not eat at the apartments but all food cooked by Eli’s dad Alexandra and looked lovely. My wife and I would not hesitate to stay here again. All the best Eli and family for the future."

"First things first, stay was very good. We had swim up room. Room and whole hotel was very clean, beds comfy and bathroom spacious (I think even to big and therefore we were missing a little bit of storing space). Room service, bar and restaurant staff was professional and friendly. Main pool was with a sea view, so it was a plus. AC is also very efficient and quiet and in same time not making you having a sore throat, which is a case in some hotels using different types of AC. Food, especially lunches and dinners were good and differential Also for us location was perfect, very close to bus stop, shops (first was less than 30 m) and bars and restaurants, while not being in crowded and loud center, so you can relax in peace and quiet. So what could be improved? - storage, i.e. we were missing towel hangers, there was only one hanger in bathroom (one hook and small bar), for sure not enough for couple with bathroom, beach and hand towels - change of policy related to drinks and food near pool. You are not allowed to bring any food to the pool, even a biscuit, while in same time you can bring all drinks including coffee that then if spilled leaves and marks on sunbeds - so I don't understand logic here - change in policy related to glass. You are not allowed to take drink from a bar to private pool (swim up) because of risk of debris, but in same time you have glasses in room and you are allowed to bring drinks from outside and risk of debris is same - so again lack of consistency in approach - check door soundproofing, our door were not like 100% fit to door frame so there were some section with "holes" which was making noise from outside more heard in the room (but in general hotel is very quiet and noisy quest are not allowed - which is a big plus) - more variants of breakfast, especially thinks like omelets or sunny side up eggs were missing for me - maybe adding some basic cocktails (in limited amount) to all inclusive offer - I was personally missing gin cocktails which were only available for extra money But long story short: hotel was hotel, very clean and tidy, location also very good, so it's worth giving a shot especially if this small changes will be implemented "

"We had such a warm welcome when we arrived. We were the first guests of the season as the hotel had only just opened the day before! Complimentary sandwiches, juice & Prosecco in reception was a very nice touch and we also had a fruit platter & wine in our room! The room was great (205) Being the first guests did feel a bit odd at first but the staff were so friendly, we soon felt at home. Unfortunately we only had 2 & a half days of sunshine. Obviously the weather is the luck of the drawer but with no inside bar we didn't enjoy the daytime or evening drinks experience as much as we'd hoped. It was really quite cold sat by the pool and at times even the restaurant was chilly too. After a few days more guests joined us. I think the hotel was at around half capacity. Unfortunately we are not smokers but almost everyone else there was. When you're not a smoker you really don't want to sit amongst smokers, some of whom appeared to be chain smoking one after another, lighting up even when others were eating food close by. YUK! Sorry but we don't do that in the UK so why do Brits abroad think that's okay? Presumably these people love going to a country where smoking almost seems to be encouraged. Do they stock up on cigarettes on the plane & spend the week smoking themselves to death?!! Sadly due to that we probably won't return to Katrin Suites despite it being a really lovely boutique hotel in a good location in Stalis. It's a shame there's not an indoor bar for non smokers! The food was excellent Even though the options & menus kept changing and meant it was a bit confusing but that was clearly due to it being the start of the season. A big shout out to George. He made us feel very welcome & is an assett to the hotel. He seems to do a bit of everything & nothing was too much trouble. Stella, Manos & Irene were all fabulous too. The reception staff were the friendliest we've ever encountered & the Manager was always friendly & helpful too. We did have an enjoyable holiday but it would have been so much better without all the smokers ~ sorry if you were one of them. It's just our opinion! Usually hotels cater for both smokers & non smokers but it seems in Crete anything goes! I do hope Katrin Suites has a great Summer season as they deserve to do well, it just won't be for us in future due to the constant smoking "
