We have spent a wonderful week at this beautiful hotel. Our room was lovely, with a very comfortable bed, and an excellent shower room. We had a sitting area, and a good view of the lovely pool and garden. Everything was immaculately clean. Ours was a mid price room. The food was really good - both breakfasts and evening dinners. At breakfast there is a wide choice of fruits, cereals, yogurts, pastries, and the usual cooked fare. We mostly chose our dinner from the June set menu - £26.50 for two courses, slightly more for three. A couple of times we ate a la carte. We ate earlier on our last evening and discovered that there is another menu available - go by 6:45 and there is an extra option of another menu….£22.50 for two courses, (more for three), which gives one an even greater choice. We would have done this every evening had we known, as then you have a really good choice at a decent price. (One evening we ate at a hotel a very short distance away, and were very disappointed…..wish we’d eaten at La Barbarie every evening.) The restaurant is pretty, and well run. The pool is lovely and warm, and the pool area is a great sun trap. It’s possible to sit in the shade and also in the sun. All is very well maintained, as are the gardens. It was really lovely to come back from a day out and spend one or two hours by and in the pool. It was also a good place to strike up some interesting conversations with other guests. The staff here - all the staff - are simply outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble, and the hotel is run incredibly efficiently. We have travelled a lot, worldwide, and La Barbarie is now one of our favourite hotels. We have every intention of returning for another week within the next couple of years. I thoroughly recommend this gorgeous hotel.
