Nice restaurant but did not like the Italian menu. Hotel much more modern than it use to be.

This is a comfortable hotel in a great location. We booked a suite and it was perfect for our week-long stay. We also had a lovely dinner at the Little Sparo restaurant with superb service. Overall, I would recommend this place. The view is lovely and although there was some noise from the working harbor, it didn't go beyond 10pm. A couple of areas where there is room for improvement: 1. The bathroom sink did not have a plug so I was very nervous about dropping something in the sink and not being able to retrieve it (toothpaste tube cap for instance). 2. There was inadequate lighting in the sitting area and especially over the bar. I had to use the flashlight from my cellphone to be able to properly see the counter. 3. Considering that the suite already had a wet bar with glasses and an ice bucket, it was not necessary to provide additional wine glasses and a second ice bucket in the bedroom and use up valuable counter space. The trays were screwed to the table and not movable. The only space available was on top of the nightstands.

This is actually the second time I’m staying here. My first visit, back in the summer of 2019, this hotel was undergoing a major renovation/rebranding. Now with all of the work completed, I was eager to return. Our harbor view room (two queen beds) was tastefully decorated and the view was as great as I remember. It is fascinating to watch all of the activity taking place on the offshore supply vessels and commercial fishing boats. I did find the room to be a bit small (on my last visit I had a King room which seemed much larger). I was disappointed that there was only one chair in this room as one person had to sit in the bed. Also, on my first visit I had a bathroom with a walk in shower. This room, however, had a shower-tub combo which unfortunately leaked the entire time we were here 5 days/4 nights). The beds were comfortable and the pillows excellent. Housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay. The lobby area is very bright and modern with great views overlooking the harbor. One night we enjoyed drinks at the sophisticated bar and were attended to by the very welcoming bartenders. Front desk staff were exceptionally friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the area. We were truly treated like valued guests.

This was my second Double Tree hotel on my Canadian holiday and it was great. I chose a corner room with a harbour view and it was spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable. The guest laundry was easy to use and well located. The staff were very helpful. I was only here for one night before joining an expedition cruise but it was perfect for my needs, especially the easy walk to the waterfront shops and restaurants. Would recommend this hotel.

Great location on the water. Staff very professional. Rooms are clean and quiet hotel with amazing view of the bay. Treat Diamond members well not only with water and preferred parking but also free parking for Diamond members! Always a nice touch to have a warm chocolate chip cookie but we were disappointed the second night arriving back home from dinner they were being “rationed”

The rooms appear to be spacious and clean. There is a serious problem with the air conditioning/heating unit. The air is toxic! My first room (#111) was either very cold or unhealthily warm. I turned off the unit altogether and the stale smell of cigarettes permeated the room. I requested a room change after waking up and feeling sick. My new room (324) had the same issue with the AC! There was no body wash in the shower. This hotel is substandard and certainly does not live up to the standards and reputation of Hilton hotels. It seems others in the group I am traveling with are also feeling ill and congested. In fact, my friend was initially assigned a room that overlooked the local beer garden! The loud music and the noise of the garbage truck at 5:30am was awful!!! The hotel changed her room too. BUT one would think that staff know the issues and problems of certain rooms and not put visitors in these rooms in the first place .

Stayed 3 nights in a King harbour view corner suite … very interesting to see personal watercraft & marine activity in the harbour. Nice view of Signal Hill from our room! Our suite was very modern & clean, luxurious bedding & towels, quality Crabtree & Evelyn shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers in shower as well as body lotion on vanity; really appreciated nice wine & drink glasses in room (not plastic) . Very comfortable bed. Sam at the front desk was very pleasant & helpful, a true ambassador for this hotel & the city of St. John’s . The hot, fresh chocolate chip cookies handed out at reception were delicious!

Simply put, I don't know how low the rate would have to be to feel satisfied with staying here. The room was tiny. The built-in furniture was really strange, awkward, cramped, and blocked the ability to use most of the surfaces. (There is a previous review about how truly bizarre this furniture is, and the spotlights within the room. Listen to that review and this review.) Right inside the door, there is a large oval mirror jutting into the room which makes things really awkward to navigate. I tried to shift a tray and a wine-glass holder to make space to put things down, but was startled to realize that they were bolted into place. It was also very stuffy. The "harbour" view was mostly of an HVAC unit and the "city" part of the view was of a parking garage. The bathroom door had a porthole window into the room which was really weird. The lighting was bizarre: spotlights pointed at the walls that we couldn't move, which made the rest of the room weirdly dark. The bed was really uncomfortable and very low to the ground. Its underground parking was very awkward/tight to maneuver in. This hotel stay was so uncomfortable, cramped and awkward that we checked out 2 days into our 5 day stay and went somewhere else. It was totally worth the hassle to move somewhere else. The staff were nice, though understaffed. The room safe was the easiest to use that I've ever seen (no crouching!). But everything else was awkward.
