The Balnoon Inn with Rooms

This is a ‘MUST EXPERIENCE’ Pub & Restaurant. We were quite thirsty while we set out of St. Ivy towards Truro this afternoon and we stopped at this lovely Inn for a drink. The moment I stepped in - I felt a wonderful vibrations of this place- the service was excellent, and had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Johnny. The oak beams were oozing with character and the ambiance was very relaxing. There was plenty of space to park- surrounded by great landscapes on all sides. The remains of an old church yet exists between the carpark and the pub with an air of serenity, with a beautiful garden. Though Johnny took over this Inn only a few months ago he has refurbished it beautifully and restored the Oak beams, to its natural colour. He and his wife have achieved a lot, despite the birth of a baby only six weeks ago. The Soup my wife had and the scotch egg I had was excellent too. If you are looking for the best place to have a drink in St. Ives - this is it! I will try to upload some pics I took. A big thanks to Johnny and family.

We were staying at Pod St Ives's just up the road so braved the busy road and had a walk round. Nice pint and a friendly welcome. Liked the decor inside too, very smart and clean looking. The only feedback I would give to the owners is pop some background music on in the pub to make it feel a bit more alive, especially on quiet days, and get the correct opening times on Facebook / Google Maps or sort the website out because we didn't actually realise you were open 🙂 We would definitely go back, and probably give the food a try 🙂

We booked and visited last Sunday after reading all the positive reviews for Sunday lunch. Sadly, we were disappointed. Upon arrival we were advised there would be a 20 minute wait until they would take our order due the chef catching up. We were told to take a seat, grab some drinks and they would be with us soon. No problem … we thought !! We waited nearly 45 minutes to order food, and even then we had to ask for a menu. Sadly the pork was sold out, so they only had two options. We then waited another 50 minutes for the food to arrive. By this point we were all sooo hungry. The food was nice, but not worth the wait. The Yorkshire puddings were as flat as a pancake and not like the photos shown. Whilst we did receive an apology, no recompense was offered due to the severe delays incurred. It was disappointing having read all the positive reviews and clearly just an “off” day, but we left over £100 lighter and not overly impressed with our experience. On a positive note, the venue is lovely and the staff were super friendly, but do need to consider the customer experience, manage expectations and offer a small way of an apology to keep customers happy to return.

Met up with my brother today for a post birthday lunch get together with our partners. Despite living in nearby St Just it was my first visit, my brother had been before under different management. We had a delicious Sunday lunch, my apologies I forgot to take any photos. 🤦🏻 Two beef and two pork dinners with plenty of vegetables (the roast parsnip was delicious) and a Yorkshire pudding for everyone! I am from Yorkshire and now live in West Penwith so this is always appreciated! Swift and cheerful service by a team of friendly staff. We all cleared our plates and will be back for more. Thank you Team Balnoon! 😋

My husband, mother and I visited Balnoon Inn today for Sunday lunch because we heard that it was under new management. All I can say is our experience exceeded expectation. The staff were amazing, and friendly. There was a choice of roast chicken, pork or beef all meals were superb and the cheesecake that my husband and I had was delicious. I highly recommend the Balnoon Inn and wish the new management all the best.

Best Sunday roast we've had in ages. Really friendly, attentive staff. Delightful surroundings outside and great character full inn with lovely fireside for chilly times. I had vegetarian roast and friend had the beef, both served with huge, fluffy Yorkshire and fresh vegetables and roast potatoes. All piping hot, vegetarian Wellington best I've ever had. Really attentive, friendly staff. We had a great experience from moment we walked in to the friendly goodbyes. Thoroughly recommed it and would book as was busy. Well done to the new owners and their team they are doing great and we will be returning often.
