Doune Guest House

I loved this guesthouse. The room was super comfy and the beds had true down duvets. Although on the small side, the rooms had everything you’d need and the owners offer to store suitcases to give you more room. I asked for a fan and one was provided almost immediately, as if there was insight staff. I’d give the rating a 5 of 5 except that they use the small plastic bottles of shampoo, conditioner, soap etc. I wish they’d use the large refillable ones other inns and guest houses use.

Great location and very comfortable room. We went to the Dunhill Links Golf for a few days and the guest house was perfect for our needs. Clean, comfortable and cozy. I left my shoes in the room and the owner even posted them back to me free of charge. Great customer service, most impressed

We stayed at Doune Guest House for 4 nights in May 2023 and it was exactly what we were looking for. It was a very nice bed and breakfast. In terms of the location, it was a dream. Easily walkable to the major attractions in town. For a golfer, there isn't a better place in terms of location, service and value. Barely 5 minutes and I was standing by the 18th green of the Old Course, right by the R&A headquarters and museum. The room was always clean, the breakfasts were good (worth paying extra for) and the owners that run it were super friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again. And, if you have a car, there is a free 24 hour public parking lot just steps away. It's not a huge lot, but I saw open spots in there pretty much every day. Plenty of great restaurants in walking distance too. For a small room, the television was surprisingly large as well.

We stayed here for a couple of nights while in town for a university open day. The location is outstanding for visiting the uni -- halfway between the science buildings on the North Haugh and the centre of the action around St Salvator's. It is also right next to the West Sands, great place for a walk weather permitting. Ilya was a great host and a top class breakfast maker, we'd waddle out of the place every morning after a mega feed (we went from here to a hotel in central Edinburgh where the breakfasts were pitiful by comparison). Although it is two steps from everything, Doune House is very quiet. Our top floor room (very pleasant, nice light) faced the street and we slept like logs on comfortable beds. Another plus -- there is a sitting room, with mini pool table downstairs so if you are travelling with sulky teenagers, as I was, you can get away from each other. My son appreciated this feature as much as I did!! Great work Ilya, shouldn't really be rating you this highly as it might make it harder to get a booking next time we're in town. But you deserve it!!

A wonderful stay from beginning to end. The location is excellent, the rooms are wonderful, the facilities are great - and the breakfast is splendid! The owners are incredibly helpful and elevate an already excellent guest house to a wonderful stay and experience.
