This hotel seemed a good value but we had a major issue. After several tries, even the staff could not get the key card to work. Another room was provided but unfortunately, we could not access medication, feminine hygiene products, toiletries, food/water. I deducted points from the service score as we were left without updates as to when maintenance would assist us. Trip customer service reported that nobody would answer the phone when they tried to assist us. It was not until I inquired that were were informed were would be locked out until the next morning. As a result, I had to go out and purchase necessities. Despite the cost and inconvenience all Trip.com offered was $5 in coins, which is unacceptable. The hotel said they would refund to our card but since we booked Trip the couldn't do anything. That said, the staff was courteous and professional, one staff member even loaned us a phone charge cable which was appreciated. The room itself was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and this was the best part of the stay. Breakfast: I don't recommend the breakfast. The offerings were very similar to other hotels but preparation seems to be the weak link. For example, the sausage appeared to have just thawed and was colder than room temp. The eggs were watery with brown chunks in them, perhaps from scorching the bottom. TLDR: Our needs were minimal and without our difficulties with the key cards and breakfast this would have been a good value. It's concerning that a hotel doesn't have a way to access a room in an emergency scenario.

The room was ok; just ok. I normally book hotels with free breakfast and typically get "hotel" breakfast - maybe 3 hot items, cereal, waffles, breads etc. However, at The State House, my wife and I went down for breakfast at 8:20AM. They were pretty much out of everything. No bread items, no cereal, no hot items with the exception of waffles. All the food warmers were unplugged so they were out for a while or never even filled that morning. The rumor among other hotel guests in the kitchen with empty plates was a truck never showed up. Totally unacceptable. Poor management. Will never stay here again!

Hotel okay. Breakfast a joke. The room at 8am looked like the morning after the night before. They ran out of food. The chef/cook claimed it was because the truck hadn’t arrived with their food delivery. Naive at best to run stocks that low. No-one from the hotel made any attempt to assist with anyone appearing in the breakfast room. An acceptable hotel let down by poor service.

In the vestibule, there’s a phone to call the front desk, you CAN’T check in until 3:00! I tried to call the front desk, they put me on hold and never picked up. There was no shampoo or soap, molding was falling off the sliding bathroom door. Paint was chipping off the wall. Just an overall uncleanliness.

Came here to attend the state fair. Now i dont know much about Springfield, but im going to go out on a limb and say the state fair is the most excitement this city gets all year. That said, you would assume all hotels in the area would be fully prepared. Not State House! We arrived at 3 to a lobby full of people. Turns out no one could get a room because they "werent ready". Told to come back in an hour. This was the night of the Motley Crue concert so the majority of people were going to that. The one guy at the desk (i think his name was Sid?) was completely overwhelmed and the longer this went on the people got angrier and angrier. 4pm rolls around and still no rooms. People start yelling that they have had reservations since April and they want their room now (we prepaid our room back in June so i get it). We finally get the room at 530. The room was clean-ish but you could tell it was rushed. Pros: the a/c was amazingly cold and the floor we were on was quiet. Location is very central for getting almost anywhere in the city with minimal effort. Ample parking. Cons: aside from the check in debacle - The room had no soap, no extra toilet paper, not enough towels and one pillow was unusable because it had no pillowcase. I didnt expect it, after our check in experience, but no attention was given to the room for the whole four days we were there. The fitness room was gross and dirty. No cups for the water, TV didnt work, no wipes for the machines. Missing hand weights. Included breakfast was terrible looking and i didnt touch it. And i know this is not the current owners fault but WHY would you build a hotel with ZERO windows facing the capital? What a brain dead decision. I feel bad for the workers because they had to deal with a situation that was not their fault, but next time i attend the state fair i wont be staying here.

I'm going to preface this by saying that prior to 2020, this hotel was extremely nice and very well maintained. Unfortunately, since then it's gone down in quality quite a bit. Now last year my wife and I stayed here. Not a horrible experience, but not the best either. The breakfast service was quite easily the worst experience we've ever had. The person working it was more interested in her phone than helping people. When I found out this year that she wasn't there, I figured there was hope! I was disappointed. The food was never exactly the best, but this year it was even worse. But the main problem was the inability to keep the pans filled, as well as keeping the coffee canisters filled. it wasn't so busy that they couldn't keep up. It just felt like poor planning. But in the 2 mornings we were there, there was never any bread nor anything to make waffles. They really need to get someone to run it properly. Oddly enough, breakfast wasn't the worst of it. It was so bad that my wife and I checked out early to head home from the State Fair, rather than spend another night being uncomfortable. The things that didn't go well: Check in. I had booked a king. Granted, I was early, but I was fine with waiting. Eventually, we "settled" on a double queen, but we came back down when we discovered the AC was not working. More waiting and then our room was ready! Yay! More disappointment as it turned out to be a queen. By then trying to get another room was out of the question because of the line at the desk. The issue with the room was there was no closet, just a rack. No hangers on the rack either. There was also no luggage rack. The AC worked, but you couldn't adjust it. So we were stuck with 73°. The room was on the first floor. So street noise was noticeable and one night people seemed to delight in pounding on our window. The bathroom had many broken and discolored tiles. Plus the shower must've been designed for a wheelchair, but whenever you used it, the water went into the bathroom itself. This was a very dangerous situation as the floor was quite slippery. We only had two micro pillows on the bed. The two together would be the size of one regular pillow. Finally, never once did we get the room cleaned or get fresh towels (we only had 2). To be honest, I never saw anyone cleaning a room. Overall, just a very BAD experience. If not for the location, I would've given it 1 star.

Stayed for 5 nights with wife and kids in a double room. Pros: Centrally located in relation to downtown and the capitol but the area is oretty mich a ghost town. Wifi fast Lobby good Bathrooms good Affordable Cons: Cleaning and housekeeping below expected standard. A/C a bit wonky but got fixed Breakfast: single use plates/cutlery, nothing fancy. Cereal, stale bagels, lard inferno (bacon, sceamvled eggs with cheese) and bake-you-own waffle (kids liked it). Keycards outdated and failing after 1 day General condition of rooms a bit below expected standard

DO NOT STAY HERE. Starting off, the room descriptions online are not accurate. I initially booked a suite that offered a roll-in bed. When i asked about it during check-in, she said it wouldn't fit in the room. We switched rooms to a double, but she then realized that the room wasn't clean *we were checking in after 4:00*. The AC was broken in the room we ended up staying and every time we went back downstairs, there was no one at the desk to ask to switch Later when i arrived home, I realized that I had been charged 3 times for a 1 night stay. I called the desk and the manager's extension numerous times, but no one picked up and the voicemail was full. Now I have to dispute the claim with my bank. Wish me luck!

Great location but a wonky stay. Don't even bother with the hotel bar - warm beer and wine, no frills, and an uninspiring vibe. It's no wonder no one goes. Plus, you have to ask if it's even going to be open - or not. Upon arrival, I noticed an unwiped counter in my room and no toilet paper on the holder in the bathroom (but there were some full rolls on the shelves above the toilet). Rooms are small, but manageable. They called my hotel room phone at 11:16 pm to see if my room was actually occupied. and woke me up. I'm not sure what the confusion was - but I thought to myself, geez - was the room actually cleaned? Morning shower consisted of only conditioner and lotion. No shampoo. I didn't realize this until it was too late. The hair dryer squeeled and I swear, almost sparked. I left with damp hair. Breakfast was a non-starter. At 8:10 when I arrived, coffee was gone and so were the eggs. But, like I said, great location, free parking, and a reasonable-ish price. I think they just need more help. They have good product potential.
