Spalato Luxury Rooms

Despite asking for a quiet room, we were assigned a room on the first floor where I could hear every single guest arrive downstairs and every word exchanged between reception and guests reverberated around the marble staircase and stone walls! Simultaneously I could hear the toddlers on the top floors screaming for extended periods. I went to politely discuss the problem with Anna at reception who was very lovely and sympathetic. She told me she was aware that the noise was amplified by the heavy stone building and the owner was aware of it but she should not do anything to help me. She offered that I could move to the building next door but they had screaming babies there too, so it would be exactly the same. My husband and I wanted to chill in the room for a couple of hours in between tiring activities but the electricity on our floor went out so we were sitting in the pitch black with no air conditioning so we’re forced to go out. I politely explained that this wasn’t a great hospitality experience to pay for somewhere to sleep but be unable to have any quiet and now to be forced out. I get that stuff happens but a good organisation would have offered some compensation. Even a 30 euro spend to get a couple of drinks when we had to vacate our room. Anna checked with the owner who refused anything.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a hotel/AirBnb. I don't believe this is a hotel, but rather an Airbnb. There is no hotel signage on the building or any way to locate it from the outside, as it is a locked apartment building with no lobby (see photo). Although I checked in for my reservation ahead of time, they cancelled my reservation without informing me (and they have no listed cancellation policy). When I called them to ask why they cancelled my reservation and asked for a refund, they hung up on me. Extremely unprofessional and feels like a scam.
