Kings Head Bawburgh

Had a really lovely nights stay at the King’s Head Bawburgh in The Langtry room with both dinner (not included) and breakfast. The Room - lovely and clean, beautifully decorated with gorgeous wooden beam and a gorgeous, deep, claw-footed bath. Although the room was small, the lovely high ceilings made it feel much bigger than it actually is. The bed was super comfy as were the pillows. I normally struggle to sleep when not in my own bed but I did actually sleep, which is remarkable! A couple of points for feedback, the chair for the dressing table is too big for the room and made manoeuvring around a bit awkward. The toilet also smelt a bit damp but we have recently a storm! Breakfast - The food was beautifully cooked. My husband’s fry up looked amazing and the bacon was properly cooked, none of this anaemic bacon rind nonsense! Eggs perfectly cooked and sausages lovely quality. I had the eggs Benedict, which was superb. My poached eggs were cooked to absolute perfection, the homemade hollandaise was lovely and it was a massive portion. Fresh coffee and juice was also perfect. Point for feedback - no butter with the toast and no choice of bread for the toast but that is being real picky. Dinner - also a wonderful meal. All quality ingredients, great portions for my small appetite and husband’s large one, as I could pick and mix for the 48.5 mile menu which I thought was brilliant. Super tasty, absolutely no complaints. We then had a drink outside in the courtyard area and I would say this little area could do with some love. It’s looking a bit tired and unloved and could be a brilliant additional feature. It was the hottest and longest day of the year and there was no one else out there when by rights it should have been busy. The biggest compliment overall though is that we can’t wait to return and we are hard customers to please!

Stumbled upon this little gem after golfing nearby. Staff accommodated us with a table outside to eat and were very welcoming. All our dishes were delicious and piping hot. Staff were very friendly although no one came back to take our desert order so we just went to the bar to pay and leave. Didn’t want to mark the place down because of one staff’s indiscretion .

Food, atmosphere was amazing the lady who greeted and took us to our seat Ella was fantastic. Candy was great so was Mia Lexi Saffron and big shout out to the chefs Dom geoff and Josh who always do the best meals and presentation is immaculate. We sat outside and even got given blankets for comfort

We popped in for a "Pub Lunch" and were presented with the menu. What a joyous find, the menu had great variety and the food was outstanding. Instead of "pub grub" we had a wonderful meal that made a meal to remember for us. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Thank you for a very enjoyable experience.

First class service and value throughout my stay. If you like charm, class and really good food this is the place for you. Staff super friendly and facilities top drawer. City centre 16 mins drive but lovely rural setting. Pie of the day always good choice but everything is excellent. Good range of breakfast too.

This is the third year my partner and I have been here for our little Christmas, and this year was special as I proposed to him, and he proposed me to me too, much to our surprise! I’d let the colleagues know before hand, and they made it extra special for us! They remember that I wanted a glass of champagne of us and brought us a celebratory dessert, we were very happy and appreciative! We will continue to come back as this place is very special to us, and all the colleagues are absolutely brilliant, as is the food and accommodation too! Thank you so very much.
