We checked in at 11.30 pm and the process was smooth. The resort nestled on the bank of Hooghly river amidst all round solitude of a gated area in Raichak . We booked in a Double Delux room with river view. Let us now move to the review of facilities and my experience ( Rating have been assigned in a Scale of 1 to 5 , 5 being highest):- A. Location : Located in the wilderness , nestled on the bank of the river , 50 km from Kolkata. True the the name , the hotel is located at the site of the fort built by the British in 1783 as a residency of 65 British soldiers under commander General Richard Watson, to keep a watch on the traffic on Hooghly river towards Calcutta. The fort was restored and converted into the hotel. The old British and French flavour is the real plus of the property. The gate, entrance to the property you over a wooden wooden bridge over a curated lily pool, all add to the theme. (Rating 4.5). B. Room :  The Superior River View room in the fifth floor that we booked was about 320 square feet with a verandah facing the river. Room was elegantly furnished with matching fittings, has a large 70 inch bed with side tables on both sides, a wardrobe, a dressing and luggage storage area. Bed was rightly soft, comfy with linens . The room had wooden flooring and clean and have amenities like tea making facility. Adequate bottles of water are provided and tea pouches replaced every day. Toilet is big in size and with a bath tub. Toilet is fitted with sanitary fitings of acceptable quality and geyser. Toileteries like shampoo pouches and body lotion were provided. Quality of toileteries are not upto the standard of a 4 star property. Room is well lit with good central air conditioning with large window. Additional pillows and blankets are provided on request. But the room lacks maintenance and need immediate rennovation. The furniture looked dated, the toilet in particular is in poor shape. Sanitary fittings and plumbing looks horrolibly dated, towels are torn needing immediate replacement, bath tub looks passed its working life since ages. The toilet drainage gives a stink due to lack of cleaning. It appears the current operator must have lost interest in the property. After paying Rs. 9.5 k per night , this is what you least expect. (Rating 3.75 ) C. Facilities : The resort has all facilities that you require for a relaxed holiday amidst nature. There is a reception area , a hall leading to the restaurant, where used artifacts of Watson family and guns used by the regiment are nicely diaplayed.
