We self drove from Guwahati airport & it was a comfortable 5 hour journey to WM. Lunch was waiting for us at the lovely bright Glass House surrounded by greenery & nicely done up with white wicker furniture, colourful cushions, table ware.T he manager,Manish came in shortly & chatted with us over a late lunch. We had booked Golden Tips & they gave us the largest & best room in the bungalow. The estate is quite large & completely covered in vegetation & ancient trees. There are several bungalows on the property & each are serviced by their own wait staff who are always present. There is a common sitting room with couches, coffee tables & lamps, the walls adorned with safari themed art & ceramic plates. The rooms are a bit tired but in such lush surrounds one is hardly in the room anyway. There is a bonfire every evening outside the dining hall with a local band playing.....soup & snacks are served & one can order their drinks from the bar....the food was adequate & good.We went for long walks in the adjoining tea gardens, capturing an amazing sunset. The next day we went early morning for a walking safari in the Nameri NP. Afterwards we crossed the border into ********* Pradesh & took a long drive. Since we were the only ones on the property that night we were joined by Manish at the bonfire & he surprised me with an upgrade to the Burra Bungalow! A beautiful bungalow remniscient of our colonial past eclectically done up with a mix of the old & new, large colourful paintings & some lovely furniture, each corner was a visual treat. We were given the best room which was huge with a even larger bathroom covered in rugs. The covered verandah with its wicker seating looking out into the fabulous garden outside was my favourite part. The extensive gardens outside the Burra Bungalow was the size of a small park. We enjoyed our 2 days at the WM thanks to Manish & the very attentive staff.
