Premier Inn Solihull (Hockley Heath, M42)

We were greeted at reception by Kamil who was very welcoming. Check in was quick having pre booked. The room had been recently refurbished to a very high standard, with everything being new, clean & fresh - a luxurious walk in large shower area, plush toiletries, ambient lighting, velvet lined clothes hangers, comfortable new bed & linen. We were pleasantly blown away as it was so different to our last experience of a Premier Inn room. They’ve really gone up market. We only stayed one night but wished it was longer. Definitely recommend staying here.

Stayed in a Premier Plus room for the weekend Friday 18th to Sunday 20th October. Receptionist Kate was very pleasant and helpful as my wife and I booked in. She was very friendly and had a lovely warm, welcoming attitude which made us feel like we were important customers and more like friends than customers. Our room was a lovely big room with a very comfortable bed and excellent facilities. The only down side to this Premier Inn was that the restaurant was not open in the evening which was a disappointment. Breakfast was good and plentiful although the service was quite slow possibly due to the number of guests. We would happily stay here again.

No Wi-Fi in rooms ….. again!!!! Paid £180 for the room plus £5 wifi upgrade - would expect Wifi and telephone reception - got neither. Staff are lovely and helpful but as a business traveller not been able to work or even phone home from my room is rubbish. Not the first time this has happened.

For our purpose, the hotel was well located and easy to find. There was plenty of car parking available but it was not obvious where was most appropriate for leaving the car overnight. The hotel was all we expected from a Premier Inn, which is the main reason we choose them. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

We came back recently from our stay at the Premier Inn at Solihull and wanted to say thank you for an excellent stay. We had one of the Premier Plus rooms and they were great, just a touch more luxury and topped off our stay to a tea. Nice and close to Stratford upon Avon for us to enjoy and we knew we had a lovely room to return back to late in the evening. Thank you the staff they were excellent and a true credit to Premier Inn.

If you're looking for a hotel that will completely cut you off from the outside world, congratulations—you've found it! The Premier Inn Solihull Hockley Heath M42 is your one-stop shop for total digital isolation. Need to check work emails, make a call, or even send a text? Too bad! The Wi-Fi is nothing short of a joke, booting you off faster than you can hit "send." And don’t bother paying extra for it—you’ll still be stuck in the digital Stone Age. The phone signal? Non-existent. So if you’re hoping to reach your family or clients, forget it. And in case of an emergency? Well, good luck! You might as well shout out of the window and hope for the best, because this place is as useful as a remote mountain cabin when it comes to communication. The staff, bless them, are completely helpless. They might smile and nod, but trust me, that won’t get you any closer to a functioning connection. Honestly, if I wanted a tech-free retreat, I’d book a yurt in the wilderness, not a Premier Inn supposedly catering to travelers. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere—anywhere—else.

Room was well appointed, bed so comfy and spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Well located for both M40 and M42

Reasonably priced for a city centre hotel from the outside looks rather tired. Ample free car parking around the full perimeter of the hotel. Large, clean modern room, king size bed, large bathroom, coffee/ tea facilities, large tv. No air conditioning but large opening window & fan were sufficient. We had cooked full English breakfast for circa £10 which was waiter provide & was lovely. All the staff were very helpful & friendly. The “only” negative was that the wifi signal was poor but this shouldn’t detract from all the other positives.

So I'll start on the positives. The hotel has had a recent refurbishment inside and is lovely and clean, the reception staff were all amazing during the 5 nights that we stayed and the breakfast menu was lovely and served hot. The downsides being little things that added up to bigger things. We were staying for 5nights as we were doing a diving course in the local area and had booked the hotel based on location and amenities, mainly being parking and on site restaurant. We knew we were going to have long days so wanted to make sure we had somewhere nice to eat and for it to be simple. Unfortunately a day before our arrival we had an email to say that the restaurant would be closed for the whole duration of our stay other than for breakfast. On arrival we spoke to reception and asked if there was anything that could be done as we'd planned on using the restaurant as a place to sit together in the evening as we had two rooms, as well as eating, their only offer was to refund our money so we could book somewhere else but obviously the price difference in booking somewhere last minute compared to in advance was not possible. Reception staff tried to help as much as possible but management did not speak to us even once and said we'd had a complimentary breakfast and the offer of a refund and that was enough, considering the length of time we were there it was very frustrating, it also meant several evenings trying to find take aways when we wanted to be releaxing. In addition to this I did mention that the shower in my room in the morning was taking in excess of 10mins just to get to warm and wasn't even hot by the time I got out, was fine I the evenings though. As someome else has mentioned we also found it strange that we booked two rooms however they put us at pretty much opposite ends of the hotel. We were there for 5days and on the third day as I left in the morning I asked if my towels and bedding could be changed, I returned late that evening to find the towels changed and the beds made but not actually changed which was also a little frustrating as they didn't get changed the whole 5nights we were there. I think as someone else mentioned its a shame that the outside is not of the same standard as the inside, we arrived to empty beer cans by the bin by the reception door and a full bin with other rubbish, which is a shame as inside and the staff are lovely. All in all I just feel that there were things that could have been done and dealt with better
