For all sorts of reasons, my wife and I wanted to have a quiet Christmas in the countryside this year. We found the delightful Castle Gardens near Bedale - it was perfect. The hosts, Diane and David were so attentive - nothing was too much for them. They even provided us with unexpected plates of what they called "cold cuts' which, in fact, were delightful plates of traditional Christmas food with fresh salad. Our room was ideal. It was warm and well furnished. The bathroom was always warm and had an excellent walk in shower. There was a mini unit above the fridge with everything you could want for hot and cold drinks, yoghurts, fresh fruit and juices. We could make our porridge in the morning with a choice of fresh fruit to accompany it. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in this delightful part of North Yorkshire _ Masham is only about 7 miles away - then look no further.
