Well located, clean and does the job. It’s on the other side of the restaurant. Check in is before 6pm. If you come later, they will probably still check you in, but there is nobody at the reception and you hope a waiter doesn’t ignore you and come and help you. Another problem arriving after 6pm is that it’s dark and we missed the street and ended up arriving at another guest house for people who sleep in their camping van or just rent a small room. Aim to arrive on time or make sure you ask them to show you clearly on google map which street to turn. Don’t rely on their map

A basic wooden lodge type construction that seemed to facilitate the transmission of noise from adjacent units. Also had a slightly drainy smell going on when we arrived which wasn’t the local sulphur dioxide, but that did dissipate later on. All in all not perfect and a bit basic but actually very convenient, clean and comfortable so I shouldn’t complain. Easy parking very near the unit and the breakfast was good. The overall sense was this is a very commercial enterprise that doesn’t just milk cows.

We had a disappointing experience here for two reasons. 1) The front desk was not staffed. When we checked in at 5:15 in the afternoon we waited 5 min for someone from the restaurant to help us. When I went back to the desk at 8:30 to ask about an issue with the room I waited 15 minutes for someone from the restaurant to help. The restaurant was busy and it while the staff noticed me, it seemed they were not prepared to help at the front desk. I got the impression that a staff member for the desk was missing, but I'm really not sure. 2) Our room was quite hot inside. It was a warm day when we stayed. The door of the room and the cute bistro table and chairs in the front had been baking in the sun. But even when it cooled off outside by 8 pm the room didn't cool down as there was no provision for airflow through the room. The door and the one window in the room were on the same wall, both in the sun and sheltered from any breeze. That's why I went to the front desk to ask if anything could be done such as providing a fan. A staff person (maybe the owner?) came over to check, but said they didn't have anything available. They apologized that it was hot. We left the room for propped open until we went to bed at 10 pm even though we had no privacy since other guests were walking by the open door. Sorry to say that with climate change I expect other guests will run into this same problem staying here.

We stayed here for two nights in early July. Let's start with the positives .... The room is a good size and comfortable. You can park almost next to your door. The place is nicely located in the middle of the Myvatn area. The restaurant has an excellent dinner (make reservations) and the continental breakfast is included and pretty interesting with cheeses and breads and skyr. It was fun to watch the cows getting milked and you can go pet them during the day. Reservations on line were excellent and all my questions were answered well. The staff in general are very nice. A few negatives... It's not really a resort .... more of a lodge but that's ok. The walls are very thin so you can hear your neighbors. The rooms are across the road from the reception/restaurant which isn't too much of a big deal but annoying in bad weather. The rooms have no fridge. The only thing that really annoyed me was the following: I try really hard to not be that typical American tourist who is entitled and demanding. We pride ourselves on trying to blend in and even use the local language if feasible or adapt to whatever is around us. We noticed that a room was being cleaned when we left one morning and assumed ours would be as well. Honestly, most of the time I don't care if my room is cleaned. I don't need new towels everyday or my bed made but for the price you're paying here and the fact that they call it a resort you kind of figure that would happen. Additionally, we were told when we got to our room that we could scan the barcode and look at the room rules. One of them was to leave your towels on the floor that you did not want anymore for an exchange. When we got back we noticed they had not come into the room which again is no big deal but it was a little surprising and we actually did need a couple of new towels in this case. When we went to the reception area which was around dinner time (understanding it was busy), we were told that they don't clean rooms unless you ask for that. This was not indicated when we checked in. Again this is not a big deal but when we said we just need a couple of new towels we were told they could not "fix that problem". It would have taken someone 5 minutes to walk across the street to the laundry room to grab a couple towels for us. We told them it's no big deal and we let it go but it was a couple of little things like that that made me leave a 4 as opposed to five. We generally don't stay at very high-end places so we were a little surprised with some of the attitude. Having said all that it was great but we wouldn't stay there again
