Barbagiannis House

We first visited Barbagiannis House 3 years ago, in the summer of 2021. We had always hoped to return and this summer, with a decision to revisit Halkidiki, gave us the opportunity. We were late-ish booking and could only book 3 nights over a mid-August weekend. This time we stayed not in the main building but in one of the two ‘bungalows’ set behind the building but positioned so that each has sea views. The sea views from the bungalow were not as good as those from our apartment in the main building last time, but the size and facilities of the bungalows compensate. Our bungalow was open plan with separate bathroom and felt modern and spacious. The bedroom area had a double wardrobe, a good-sized, comfortable, double bed and a living area with sofa which opened flat into a bed. This was not comfortable as a sofa or a bed, we tried, because of the design of the upholstery. The kitchen area gave us plenty of space. Sink, kettle, sandwich toaster, two-ringed hob, fridge. No microwave. Enough plates, although mismatched and no dessert bowls, and cutlery also mismatched and tired. Also, it would have been great to have two mugs, not just two small coffee cups. Water pressure comes and goes but we found it mostly fine. Large balcony with plenty of room for a table and four chairs, two recliners and a drying rack. It has subtle screening which gives privacy. WIFI almost non-existent inside the bungalow but very good outside on the balcony. Breakfasts were always tasty – and plenty of choice - eggs and omelettes, wonderful Greek yoghurt, cakes, toast…. You will not go hungry. It is served in the small breakfast room overlooking the swimming pool. And Barbagiannis living is relaxed, the beach is 5 minutes’ walk away, and the views from the hotel are stunning. Hours can be whiled away on the balcony just watching the sea and the boats. One evening we ordered food from the restaurant and had it on our balcony and, on another, we ate at the restaurant. Both meals were excellent, reasonably priced and had excellent portions. Service was a little indifferent in the restaurant. Very little connection. With the exception of our marvellous cleaning lady, at times, at Barbagiannis, it felt like staff were a little people-weary. However we had moved from a super warm welcome at a hotel on Kassadra so maybe we just noticed it more.

This place has everything for a weeks vacation. It’s just outside the fishing village port area so you are away from the crowds, and the beach is a 5 minute walk in the other direction. We stayed in one of the two new bungalows on the site. These are very well equipped with bedroom, living area and small kitchenette, fridge, sink, hot plate and kettle. The bathroom had a walk-in shower, and everywhere was air conditioned. Every morning there is a substantial breakfast with both hot and cold options and as much coffee as you could drink lots of sun beds around the pool and gardens as well. The one disappointment was the the on-site restaurant was closed as the season was ending

Barbagiannis House is family run and it would be difficult to find better service anywhere. The family take a pride in keeping their property clean and attractive. There are both sunny and shady areas, within the well kept garden, where you can relax and enjoy the view. We stayed in one of the bungalows and could not have been more comfortable. They are modern and spacious. Our private outside decking area was an ideal place to sit, either in a chair or sun longer and enjoy the view. The terrace area also has a good sized table and clothes drier (very useful for drying swimwear and towels). A large retractable awning ensured we could have shade, if needed, when the sun was high. A few steps to the bar area where we ate a good breakfast each morning. This is also where we could order food and drink throughout the day. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in the adjacent Thalassa restaurant. The pool area is kept spotless and is where we liked to relax each day. The views from the bar, restaurant and pool area are incredible. I highly recommend enjoying a cocktail here. The beach is only a few minutes walk as is the harbour area. We will definitely be returning.

Small boutique style hotel, lovely old style building in a lovely quiet location, but within very easy walking distance of harbour, beach and restaurants. Room very clean and comfortable. Very friendly owners. Lovely pool and bar area- very relaxing. Good breakfast. Loved the Greek yogurt with walnuts and honey, and lots of lovely fresh fruit available. This is a perfect spot to relax, with lovely views across the bay. Best to travel with a car so you can explore. There is plenty of shaded parking space at the hotel. Lovely hotel, lovely location- would definitely recommend

We booked one of the bungalows for the week on a vacation with some friends and it was magical. Maria and her team and family are awesome and they made our stay amazing. The location is fabulous, the food at the restaurant is to die for, hotel has everything you need and the view from the pool is stellar. Try the cocktails at the bar and enjoy northern Greece. Everything about this hotel is awesome!

Fantastic view over the sea. Great service and perfect place to relax. The staff is very nice and the food is excellent. We will 100% travel here again and stay at Maria’s lovely hotel. The Hotel is only 10 rooms, so it feels like Home. Rent a car and travel the Island while you stay at this place👌🏻

My partner and I stayed here for 5 days in mid September and it’s everything we could have asked for - beautiful doesn’t even cut it! Everything from the room to the restaurant were tasteful, comfortable and clean. The service was beyond excellent and views were breathtaking. Most days, we had the pool entirely to ourselves and the pool bar has some of the best coffee I have had in Greece. This place is 10/10, I cannot fault it! If you are after a quiet and peaceful get away in walking distance of a beautiful port and sandy beach then this is your place! We came here without a car and really didn’t need one - everything is within 5 minute walking distance and the best restaurant in town is Thalassa (in the hotel itself!) Within 5 minutes you can get to: - La Luna or Foa beach bars (comfy loungers, beach service and good drinks menu) - White Bar (fantastic restaurant on the beach for lunches) - Aristos Restaurant in port (very good seafood with excellent customer service) - Private boat hire (hire a boat for the day to island hop for just €70)
