I gave it a 4 Star because our experience got much better once we got into a renovated room but when we initially arrived I wanted to check out and was shocked that the rooms don’t reflect the pictures. So beware of the differences between renovated and unrenovated rooms. The unrenovated rooms look like they haven’t been touched in 25 years! Still old furniture and old furnishings. Based on what I saw of the unrenovated room, I would have given the hotel a 1 for physical condition as I would not have stayed, but the excellent staff, with a shout out to Luca, immediately moved us to a much nicer suite in a renovated cottage and once that happened our experience improved greatly. The Minareto is really a resort and excellent for families and larger groups. Since we didn’t really use any of the amenities, I wouldn’t stay here again and would prefer to have stayed in Ortigia closer to the god restaurants, shopping, and walking. Still, the dining experience, although quite expensive compared with nice restaurants down the street, was good, especially during our breakfasts. It’s a large property and it’s best to have a car to stay here. All in all, it can be nice for those in groups and who are looking for more of a resort setting. Staff was excellent.
