Decided to believe the roadside sign saying 'OPEN' So glad we did! What a lovely find. Peace, a gentle garden setting, great pot of tea and delicious toasted teacakes, kind welcome. What could be more acceptable after a gruelling day of Roman history on the Wall !!! Sunshine too.

Wonderful setting in a pretty English village. Our hosts, Alex and Christine, were very kind and accommodating. This spot was one of our layovers during our Hadrian's Wall jaunt. It's 4-5 miles away from Chester Fort, our final destination for the day, and Alex picked us up (pre arranged). Our room was bright and clean and the beds were comfortable. Dinner was at a common table with two other couples who were also walkers. It made for a fun and friendly night. Dinner was very nice and they have a nice selection of beverages at their small bar. The gardens are beautiful and if it had been warmer, we definitely would have spent more time there.

On a sunny day I doubt you can find a more beautiful garden to sit and enjoy a snack. It is a glorious setting and I found the new owners very friendly. They have spent a lot of time upgrading the garden and it is a very pleasant place to sit and chill out. If you are passing it is well worth stopping for a cuppa.

Clean and tidy room, very comfortable if a bit on the small side. Great hosts who collected us from a drop off point. Nice garden area to sit in. Meal was provided on request but no real g/f options..

The room was too warm and no fans. The bathroom is not an ensuite but we didn’t have to share it. Dinner was expensive for what we got and for a tearoom there was only one homemade dessert and the cake was dry. However Dave the host made this visit worthwhile.

What a picturesque place to stay.Highly recommend a stay there.I was made to feel very welcome,I was made to feel lie one of the family, first class hosting. Rooms spotless clean. Comfy beds and clean bathroom. Excellent food .
