Kaktus Boutique Hotel Side

The location is great, just across a pedestrian road from the sea. Negotiate directly with the hotel for your price because the room we had was WAY overpriced. Room 107 is up a staircase and has a double and a single bed, a large window to open, and a very good balcony. The shower falls directly onto the toilet and you must squeegee the floor after a shower. The breakfast (quite nice) is served outside at around 10 AM (although they say it will be at 9). You must leave you car outside the archeological area (where hotel is located) and walk or take a tram to the hotel. We were able to park on the streets for free but the official way is to park in a paid lot. Buy your beer/wine/snacks a few miles from Side because within the town things cost double. In the morning hoards of people come into town to view the ruins.

We travel to Antalya every year and this year we thought we’d try a week in side followed by a week in Kaleici. We booked 8 nights in the kaktus boutique hotel after a lot of research and we were excited about our stay. We are not those travellers that want to stay in resorts or in big fancy hotels. We much prefer the small family run hotels and guest houses. Unfortunately we made a mistake booking the Kaktus. We arrived to the hotel at around 3am after a slight 40 min delay into Antalya airport, but we’d informed the hotel when booking of our approx arrival time and we had a confirmation response, So after arriving we realised the hotel was completely closed up, no one around at all except a couple of rats running along the side of the breakfast area wall. Eventually after waiting 30 mins we stopped a passing guy who called the hotel and thankfully the owner turned up a minute later. Very friendly guy as is his wife who we met a bit later. So we are shown to our room upstairs and as we enter we see the bed not made and the room is dirty, off goes the guy after saying he make up the bed. So 10 minutes later, in walks the wife snd possibly the sister to make up the room at 4am. They ask us to sit on the balcony which we do and can see neither the undersheet or the pillow cases are changed. Then as we’re looking off the balcony we notice next doors balcony door is open, look over and there is actually someone sleeping on the floor. So mows it’s 4.30.am, we’re shattered and just want some sleep. Problem is the curtain was pretty much hanging off the rail and there is nothing but a net curtain over the balcony door and I’m aware someone is sleeping 5 foot away. Don’t get any sleep as the sun starts to rise at 5.20am and we’ve nothing to cover the door, Literally got up and looked at each other in despair. I could not spend another 7 days here so we headed downstairs and saw the friendly owner who asked if we wanted breakfast, think he knew what was coming, I tried to explain but with language barrier the response we got was yes, small room, Anyways, spoke to the wife and I’m not going to moan but she agreed to us paying 60€ for the single night of 4 hours and she will cancel the booking. Other things to mention is there was one plug socket in the entire room, the shower is literally a hand held shower head over the toilet, the owners room is across the hallway from our room so it feels more like their house that we’re staying in and the door was so thin you could literally hear everything. Thankfully we found another hotel 10 mins away but with the cost of the single night plus booking a hotel at such short notice, we were left approx 180€ out of pocket. Positives, the Kaktus is right on the waterfront and only a 5 minute walk to the beach club on the quiet beach we went to every day. The family really are lovely and I wish them all the luck. We had found this hotel quite attractive from the photos and comments. Indeed it is about 10 meters away from the beach; convenient for children. While we were driving to this hotel (5 hours drive) we received an email saying they cancelled our booking; not even a phone call.. When we are abroad we disconnect data and all on our phones and connect from time to time. Therefore we found out they cancelled our booking right when we arrived there! Amazing.. They claimed that they currently had a family in our rooms that were positive to covid.. We never saw any of the staff or the customers wearing masks. We never saw any government agency confining the hotel either. They instead suggested a hotel 50 meters behind, without any view and a depressing terrasse. Rooms were extremly basic, no decoration at all. This was quite an experience. Kaktus hotel offered us breakfasts and one dinner, but then on the day we left and were settling the invoice (we paid the other hotel TO this kaktus hotel.. strange) the manager suddenly didn't agree with the hotel price and tried to increase the price. We actually think that they cancelled our booking because we booked in february for july. Turkey has 80% inflation per year so it makes "sense" to try to cancel and accept new bookings at a better exchange rate. Way too many problems with this hotel. Better book ANY other hotel. we do not recommend at all this hotel.

Kleines, ruhiges und sehr schön gelegenes Hotel direkt an der Strandpromenade der Altstadt Side mit schönem Blick aufs Meer. Liebe Grüße und vielen Dank an die Betreiber und Mitarbeiter dieses kleinen Familienunternehmens, die immer sehr hilfsbereit, freundlich, familiär und aufmerksam für mein Wohl, meine Anliegen und Pläne agierten. Wer keinen überteuerten Luxuskomfort sondern individuelle Gästebetreuung, Wohlfühlatmosphäre und Geborgenheit sucht ist hier genau richtig!

Sezon sonu olmasına rağmen hiç eksiksiz hizmet aldığım bir otel. Çalışanlar tarafından güler yüzlü ve çok içten karşılandık. Kahvaltı ve yemekler çok güzeldi. Ayrıca otopark sıkıntı deniliyor ama hiç sıkıntı yaşamadık otopark var. Odalarımız her daim temizdi samimi ortamı ve ilgi alakaları için çok teşekkür ederiz. Çok memnun kaldık 😍🥰❤️
