I wdon’t care if this hotel is charging $200 a night or $15 a night, do not stay here. This hotel, is without a doubt, the worst place I have ever stayed. My travel companion and I paid over $150 to stay a single night at this hotel, in order to avoid staying in Milwaukee, because we thought it would be a bit safer to stay in Sheboygan. Wrong. Upon arrival, it was midnight. We pulled up to the hotel parking lot, parked easily, walked toward the lobby doors, and there was trash everywhere: cigarette butts, beer, cans, soda, cans, paper, plastic. Upon entry in the hotel, we were told that the pool was closed. There was no snack bar. The front desk person was nice and promptly greeted us, however, she also had to advise us to ignore the gentleman standing behind her, making strange comments to us. She instructed him to “go away,” at which point he did. Neither my travel companion, nor I could fully understand what he was saying, but it was uncomfortable. We were not asked for identification upon check-in. After being told that the hotel was undergoing renovation and had been acquired by Wyndham / Travelodge in April of 2023 (signage still indicated EconoLodge on site), we took the elevator up to our room. The elevator was clearly unsafe, the buttons did not work correctly, it made loud sounds. Because we were told we were staying in the renovated part of the hotel were optimistic, that perhaps, this would not be an awful situation, however, after making our way down, a filthy tool – filled, dangerously cluttered hallway, we entered our room - only to find that it had not been renovated. The room smelled awful. I still have not been able to place the scent. The air conditioning unit was running, but not functional. It was blowing humid, tepid air into the room. The room was filthy. They were cigarette burns on the furniture. The carpet was peeling away from the walls. There was a crumpled up plastic, grocery bag in the corner of the allegedly cleaned shower. There was no soap, no shampoo, etc. One of the beds had yellow stains under and allegedly cleaned pillow. The vent in the bathroom was thick with dust and fuzz. They were holes in the wall. Scrapes all over the paint. We chose not to place our bags, suitcases or bare feet on any floor surface. We opted not to go down to the lobby and complain because we were made so uncomfortable by the man we originally encountered. Had we not been so desperate for a place to get a few hours of sleep we would have left and slept in our car. Not knowing the area we were in, and being concerned, based on the state of the hotel, in which we were presently staying, it made us nervous to sleep in our car. I do not see an option to upload pictures to this review, but you should note they are READILY available. We stayed a total of six hours at the hotel - just enough to get a little sleep before getting on the road again. We did not trust the towels, let alone the surfaces. We waited until dawn to leave, as we felt un
