The staff are lovely. Friendly, helpful, enthusiastic. The property is very nice. We had deer outside our window. The cons. Very rustic both lodge and rooms. Common areas smelled musty. The rooms were not as comfortable as we would have liked. They have a beautiful cooper tub in front of the window which is lovely, but as a result there was no where for even a small table. The offer in room dining but you would have to eat on your lap. The dining room, for dinner had only 4 entrees. No vegetarian option. My husband said his chicken was good, but it just came with the chicken. No sides. My meal, I cannot remember what it was called, was awful. Thin pasta with terrible ham and a poached egg. It was flavourless except for the awful ham. Biggest issue is that the dining room opens at 8 am! No where to get even a coffee beforehand. We are early risers which we did advise the staff but no accommodation was made. We ended up driving a half an hour to an amazing bakery called Bread Alone so we could start our hike. The bakery was the closest to the hotel if you wanted anything before 8 am. This was pretty upsetting since we picked the hotel for its proximity to the trailhead. We definitely would not recommend this place.
