We have stopped at the Wishing Well in the past and thought it OK, but that was several years ago. Sadly, our most recent stay at the hotel was not a pleasant one. The hotel is now looking very “tired” and is in desperate need of refurbishment. The rooms a very shabby with missing veneer from the units, threadbare carpet, loose wobbly toilet seat, grubby shower head, sticky floor in the bathroom. The corridor leading to our room had big dips in the floor and again the carpet was grubby and threadbare. Breakfast was a joke, desperately under staffed in the restaurant. No cups, no glasses, no orange juice no bread for the toaster, no side plates, no ketchup, clay cold undrinkable coffee. The poor girl behind the counter was running round taking orders and trying to refurbish the drinks etc. but seemed unable to cope. £10.95 for a “full English” - what a waste of money. It took ages to come and then they had to apologise because they’d run out of black pudding (one hour after opening). The breakfast was undercooked with the cheapest of sausages, practically raw tomatoes and cold baked beans that seemed to have come straight from the tin unheated. The only saving grace were the staff, who all seemed friendly. At £80 to £95 a night it is far from good value. We won’t be stopping there again.
