The Grand Tappattoo Resort, Ascend Hotel Collection

Paid for a 3 night non-refundable stay (Friday-Sunday night). Due to some confusion, I didn't realize that I already had this booked, so I ended up booking Friday and Saturday night at a different hotel. Called Sunday morning, was told that since I did not show up, the reservation was cancelled (understandable). Asked if I could stay Sunday night in the same room category without having to pay for a new reservation (mind you that I had already paid once to stay Sunday night). Front desk manager informed my travel agent that the only way I could stay is to pay for another night. I run my own short-term rental business, so I understand that I shouldn't get a refund, even if someone else booked those same nights in my place. What I don't understand is if the room was still available (I wasn't asking for an upgrade or refund), and I already paid for the reservation, why I would have to pay even more to finish my stay. I would never dream of not giving my guests (who have done similar things) the option to stay when the room is still available. I legally have no recourse except to leave them a negative review for poor customer service.

Wonderful place, nice comfortable rooms but I can’t recommend the food. Both dinners in the dining room were terrible. The Dining was not busy. Staff cleaning up as we were starting desert. They must have been giving us the message we had stayed too long! This was our third and last visit here.

Our second year here in September ,,,our suite was great ,wonderful breakfasts, suppers were perfectly prepared and served, excellent staff,beautiful location and scenery,nice dock and beach,great fishing, we have already booked for next year.

hubby and I stayed in the deluxe 2 queen bed room, 2nd floor, Lakeview on Thursday Sept 5th for an overnight.....pleasantly surprised of our accommodations....nice sitting area inside with 2 comfy chairs, large tv beds super comfy, private balcony looking over the lake and beach...very clean and a great shower, fireplace would be great in October and they have a nature trail as well. food in restaurant was great, had chicken wings and a melted brie and walnut..... best carrot cake and cheese cake ever...a little slow to get our meal even tho it wasnt crowded, we were only people in the restaurant lol but we ate at 8pm and alot of older people at resort ate early I guess....had a Keurig so brought extra coffees from home...wifi good, but tv lacked good channels so no free movies...next time we bring bring our tablet and stream Netflix or prime.....couldn't canoe tho as there were no canoe paddles, only kayak paddles.... beach was great, lots of loungers and umbrellas, just like their pictures.....there was large crack on one of our muskoka chairs on the balcony..I did report to office asap as they do hold a $250 security deposit...but a towel on the chair solved the issue as front desk didnt seem to be in a hurry to replace it for us and we wanted to leave the room to explore the place....nice sunny indoor pool too.....decided not to eat the free breakfast as we figured it might be slow like dinner was...but we were prepared as other reviews said it took awhile to get served.....but our wine came asap and waiter was great with drink orders, so we were happy.....we will definitely go back and stay a few days to take advantage of the lake and stuff.....would be great if they had pickleball or tennis courts for the older crowd.....I imagine it's quite crowded July and August so September, right after labour day was perfect....oh and the shower in our room was fantastic, nice big rain shower head....room even had a ceiling fan, great touch...but there should be a light closer to Keurig as it was hard to see where to pour ur water in. room 65 is the room we would pick next time as it's an end unit....no elevators so keep that in mind if u have stair issues..

Just returned from this gem two hours north of Toronto and can’t wait to go back. We had a standard room which was very comfortable and clean. It looked like it was freshly painted with new furniture, beds and blinds. Bed and pillows were comfy. Bathroom was a good size. Rooms with balconies overlook the lake and come with a fireplace and a/c. Beautiful warm beach with plenty sun loungers and some Muskoka chairs with umbrellas. Lots of water activities free to use such as kayaks, boats, etc.. Life jackets provided. Indoor pool was warm and clean as was the indoor sauna. There was an outdoor sauna by the beach but we never used it. Games room available, just ask for foosball and ping-pong paddles at the front desk. Free wifi throughout the resort (teenager didn’t complain). Huge parking lot. Grounds are well kept and lovely. Yes, there are geese there people, you are outdoors in nature. There was a guy there working all day and night picking up and maintaining the property. Although they don’t come around to clean your room daily, they were very accommodating with anything we needed such as exchanging towels. All staff work so hard and they were all lovely. We had a great breakfast to start our day every day which was included with our stay. We enjoyed the dining area overlooking the lake so much that we ate dinner there every day. Service was a bit slow, but we enjoyed taking our time as we enjoyed the views of the lake. We pretty much had almost everything on the menu over the week and everything was delicious! Extra perks included free firewood, for the two big fire pits. Fishing rods were available as well. They also sold worms for fishing on site so you didn’t have to go into town. Overall, we had a very relaxing time and really enjoyed everything this resort had to offer.

Family of 4, we arrived at this hotel on June 29th, for 2 days. Amazing first time experience from the beginning till the end!! The check-in went smooth, the receptionist was professional sharing the info we needed to know regarding our stay. The room we got was 72, second floor with an amazing view to the lake. The room was clean, big and modern, looked like being renovated. Unfortunately the weather was not the best, but we were still able to enjoy the lake activities, paddle boats and kayaks. The lake is stunning! The food and service at the restaurant are the best, the waiter Eli was extremely friendly and nice. Koodos to the chef, amazing food, very tasty and nicely presented. We were offered cheaps and salsa on the house for a dinner longer wait, so nice and thoughtful! Breakfast was really good, with plenty of choices (one suggestion is to include some cheese and fresh vegetables). I can say that the managemnt try their best to please their guests and they succeed doing so, a nice touch was the fireworks for Canada day offered at the beach, amazing show! Can't wait to come back here and will highly recommend this place to my friends!

Excellent bed and breakfast. Hot breakfast. Helpful service. Rooms clean. Food overall 10 0ut of 10. My husband and I golf, therefore, it was nice to come back to our room, freshen up, and have dinner there. Will return next year. Highly recommend.

Had a wonderful stay here, this was our second June visit to this beautiful place. Quiet and staff is so friendly and helpful. Love the beach fire pits and they supply wood for you. Love the buffet breakfast! Our rooms were clean and spacious. Couldn't ask for more we just wanted some relaxation. This was perfect!! Thank you!!

While the resort is...nice, management has to do something with the restaurant end of the business. I came to stay for 2 nights with 15 other friends for a golf excursion. We all met the first morning and paid for the breakfast buffet. Our other 2 mornings had breakfast included. Our first night, we decided to eat dinner at the resort restaurant. Our meals, although good, took forever to come out of the kitchen. And it wasn't even busy. This should have been an omen for what was to come. We came down on our final morning expecting another buffet - which would have been fine. But, alas, it was 'a la carte' and we had to order from a menu - a menu that had nothing that wasn't served with the buffet the day before. IT TOOK AN HOUR AND A HALF for our plates to start to come out. And only 2 at a time. With at least 15 minutes before the next 2 came out. In the end, 4 of our group got up and left without a meal because of our tee times. A different group of 6 golfers just got up and left without being served any food. If it wasn't for the pleasantness and fortitude of our server, Lina, all would have been lost. All hail Lina for making our rough experience somewhat tolerable in the restaurant. She was just the best.
