The bedrooms are exceptionally well designed very modern and bright. In our room, we had full tea making facilities with shortbread, the bathroom comprised the bath a shower double sink lots of bright lighting sound system built into the mirror and a heated towel rail The standard of the food is exceptional both evening meal and breakfast. Our stay exceeded expectations

One of the best Sunday lunches we have eaten for a very long time. The beef was melting in the mouth and a wonderful yorks pud too. The belly pork and black pudding started with a crispy egg was simply stunning. We have already booked a return visit

We went for dinner tonight and the whole experience was simply top class. From the greeting to paying the bill- seamless. Excellent customer service. The food is outstanding. Caitlin and Ellis are new managers and clearly have worked in hospitality and know their art. I highly recommend this restaurant when staying in Sedbergh.

We visited The Dalesman this evening and were thoroughly impressed—from the warm welcome to the excellent food and service. It was fully booked inside, but we were happy to sit outdoors and enjoy a lovely, mild Dales evening. It turned out to be the perfect spot to relax and take in the atmosphere. We were advised there could be a 90-minute wait for food service, which didn’t bother us in the slightest—but to our surprise, it all arrived in under 30 minutes. Either they read minds or they took pity on our hungry faces. I had the fish and chips—beautifully cooked, crisp, and full of flavour, with a generous portion that didn’t skimp on quality. My partner ordered the steak and chips, which was cooked to absolute perfection and clearly taken seriously in the kitchen. Proper attention to detail, and it showed on the plate. A special thank-you goes to the charming member of staff who thoughtfully opened and closed the back door for my partner, who was nursing a sore knee. We didn’t ask—they just noticed and acted. Top marks for that kind of attentive service. The bar and floor staff were all friendly, efficient, and effortlessly professional. The whole place has a welcoming feel but still manages to maintain a touch of class—an ideal combination. Highly recommended if you’re in or around Sedbergh. Just be sure to book ahead—or embrace the fresh air and dine al fresco like we did. Either way, you’re in for a treat.

Visited for lunch on my birthday, had the roast beef with the trimmings & cauliflower cheese, which was all so delicious. The rest of the family also said how great the food was including the pate and squid starters. Highly recommend the Dalesman, one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had. Sat in the beer garden round the back of the pub which was lovely in the sun. Very friendly & helpful staff. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

This is such a warm and welcoming place to drink and eat. Brian and Alina and all the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The food is SO good. We ate here for the two nights we stayed in Sedbergh because of the lovely warm atmosphere. We highly recommend and will absolutely be returning again very soon. 😍

We have just had the best roast dinner. We would highly recommend and the staff are all amazing too, especially Brian. We also had amazing starters, belly pork and mushroom fricassee. The cauliflower cheese was to die for. Desserts looked amazing but way too full to have one.

Great welcome and very accommodating when we decided to enjoy the sunshine and asked to eat outside. We all had wonderful food, delicious creamy smooth parfait and a plate of squid - followed by good sized portion of fine m/r roast beef, roast pork and chicken all with good accompaniments and plenty of gravy topped by superb Yorkshire puddings. the staff were friendly and attentive.

We stayed in room 2 for one night and cannot rate the stay highly enough! From checking in with Brian's warm welcome, we had a great stay. The room was superb in every way, dinner and breakfast were perfect. High quality, attentive and friendly staff, we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Sedbergh itself is a lovely place to visit, and the Dalesman is a credit to it.
