Powys Lodge

Stayed here twice and thoroughly enjoyed both stays. The landlady is very friendly and down to Earth. It's very clean and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is very close to everything and there are shops and takeaways a stones throw from the hotel We will be coming back next time we're in Scarborough

The host Tina was very friendly and approachable and did say that she was available if any of the guests needed anything and to be fair she was true to her word. I arrived later than planned on the Friday evening and she made a point of calling me while I was travelling to Scarborough on the train as she was worried about missing me for check in as she needed to nip out which was a nice touch. I actually got the taxi from the train station anyway and caught Tina before she headed out and she advised me of somewhere nearby to go for something to eat. Tina was genuinely interested in her guests and how they were enjoying their stay in Scarborough and at Powys Lodge. Breakfast was nice, I like a good old fashioned English fry-up. Bed was very comfy and room spacious. Hot water from the bathroom wash hand basin was coming out yellow which did not look pleasant at all. When I mentioned this to Tina who runs Powys Lodge she explained the problems that they had been having with the drains. She advised to leave the hot water running and the yellowness would disappear which to be fair I did find that to be the case. I also mentioned that the water pressure from the shower was not very good. This did not improve for the remainder of my stay, in fact if anything it got worse and on one morning the water stopped coming out of the shower completely..... Luckily I'd nearly finished showering anyway. I could hear someone in one of the other rooms running water at the same time, whether this had anything to do with the shower stopping working, who knows??? Not much space between the toilet and bathroom ceiling. Couple of times I whacked my head on the ceiling because of this as I am quite a big guy. Also when I arrived it was quite warm. The radiator in my room was on so I turned it off no problem. However when it became cold and very chilly for the rest of the bank holiday weekend and I needed to warm I then could not get the radiator on at all despite me turning the temperature gage back up full blast, so a lot of time I was freezing cold in my room!!! I liked Tina, one of the most pleasant/loveliest hosts I have ever come across and it's a shame I have to point out these negative things because my experience/stay could have been so much better by eradicating the things that I have mentioned. However I have to give a completely honest assessment based on my own experience and my own findings. And I hope that Tina appreciates my honest feedback.

Tina gave us a warm Welcome after a long horrendous journey to get there. Lovely modern decor, spotlessly clean. Beds very comfortable. Being a larger lady shower was a bit of a squeeze , but that's my problem 😂!Would definitely stay again!

Lovely and friendly welcome from Tina, very bubbly and chatty which was lovely. Hotel absolutely spotless. Quiet and calm environment. Good choice of breakfast. Bed very comfortable. Enjoyable stay. Highly recommended. Everything nearby.

Lovely clean room. Comfortable bed. Excellent host very attentive and chatty. Breakfast was excellent. Easy parking. Facilities were very good. Very good value for money. Needs some sort of caddy in the shower for toiletries but not a big issue

Lovely four night stay at Powys lodge. Fantastic host, spacious comfortable room, lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. Good location with some on-site parking and plenty of on-street parking with disc provided. And great value for money too
