Savasi Island Resort

Absolutely fantastic stay at Savasi don’t hesitate just book. From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave you are looked after on this small beautiful island resort. The staff make the experience special and we can’t thank them all enough for their Fijian hospitality. The food is delicious and the drinks, trips and spa all reasonably priced.

Accessed by Fiji air on an easy 1 hr flight from Nadi on a small plane - we chose the ‘pay in Fjd ‘ option in their website & strangely it was significantly cheaper than paying in Aud - A bonus! What is there to fault at Savasi resort? Very little, it is the most wonderful atmosphere in a serene setting. There are a number of things that put this resort at the top of our many Fiji trips. it’s a combination of the beautiful environment, the staff who are amazing, the villas are authentic Fijian and the food was faultless. We stayed for a six day package and the fact that food is included here is fantastic. Having travelled all over the world, we can confidently say this food was up there with the best. No matter what cultural food they were cooking, it was a A1! We booked a 1 bed cliff top villa direct with the resort and were lucky enough to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom – villa 5 which was set back out of the wind, but still had sun on the pool most of the day. It was heaven! Take an eyepatch if you are woken easily as the villas are positioned for the views, so don’t have full window coverings. The only thing we found is maybe the air cons will need re- gassing as they struggled to cool the rooms fully at night when it was hot. The resort is kept pristinely clean and we noted that the small things, like staff brush all the many paths with a broom rather than using a noisy leaf blower, ensuring the peacefulness. They offer activities if you want to do a lot and you can relax if not. But what makes a resort like this has to be its staff. You can feel when people are happy where they work and the balance is just right here. They are the most beautiful people always friendly and willing to help, while professional and humble. A resort is only as good as the staff they hold and the owners are lucky to have people like this as the face of Savasi resort. We had a birthday dinner in the special cave area & the staff came & sang with a bday cake which was a lovely touch! After more than two decades of visiting Fiji, we can say we will be back – it felt like family. Next time we will time our flights to go straight thru to Savasi from home, as international & domestic terminals are side by side. Vinaka vakalevu

A fabulous resort where we couldn’t have felt more welcome. Lovely friendly staff who were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Their personal approach and warmth made you feel like you were staying with family. Fantastic food - great variety, very fresh, expertly cooked and beautifully presented. Excellent cocktails and marvellous atmosphere. Accommodation superb. We stayed on Serenity (Nautical accommodation) which was perfect for the family. Wide variety of activities on offer - all very relaxed and authentic experiences. The spa treatments were wonderful. Highly recommend. A big thank you to ALL the staff for giving us a trip of a lifetime especially Ma, Issac, Riko, Sala, Alec, Marisilina, Kele and Eddie!!

Our family of four (two adults and kids ages 8 and 11) just returned from an eight night stay at Savasi. Visiting Fiji from the States was certainly a bucket list trip, and it did not disappoint. We stayed in the Sea Breeze villa, though we quickly realized a toilet needed to be repaired so management moved us into Blue Lagoon 2 for a couple of days during the maintenance. The BEST parts of our stay: -We loved the reef/rock pools surrounding the resort and our kids never tired of exploring the abundance of sea life. -As mentioned many times before in other reviews, the grounds around the resort are breathtakingly beautiful. -We also had a wonderful couples massage at the spa and I can’t recommend their services highly enough. -The cultural experiences (Meke performance, kava ceremony with Isaac, and visit to the village with Alec) were so special to our family. We really love opportunities to expose our kids to different cultures and learn about traditions and values of the communities we visit, so this was greatly appreciated. -Snorkeling Split Rock and Natewa Bay were worth every additional penny. Stunning. -Most importantly, big kudos to the kitchen staff for accommodating our daughter’s celiac disease (gluten allergy), as they went above and beyond to offer GF baked goods, noodles, etc. Likewise, both of our kids are still in a picky phase and they were thrilled with the kids menu offerings. The food/restaurant was really a highlight all around and we always enjoyed our dining experiences each day. The good: -Kayaking around the lagoon and visiting the blow holes made for a fun morning activity for us. -The main beach next to Sea Breeze is small but relaxing. -The majority of staff were really joyful and kind. -When we had issues (like wasps in our rooms), we used the resort app to put in a request and the staff quickly tried to remedy. Things to think about: -It was chaotic and stressful to move rooms, but primarily because we had planned activities that meant scrambling to get everything together with little notice. This was not the only time we felt like communication from the front desk left a little to be desired. Not a lot of acknowledgment or apology when issues arose, and I guess that was a surprise after reading so many comments about the superior hospitality. -We had SO MANY bugs in both villas (mostly wasps and both big and small ants… even some lizards and what we think was a mouse that scampered across the roof beam.) Its a tropical environment, so I do realize it’s to be expected to an extent, but they were all over the beds every night, along with mysterious wood shavings from the ceiling that would fall all throughout the day, and it just zapped our ability to relax and sleep well. Sometimes housekeeping would let down the mosquito netting, but it wasn’t consistent, so we spent a good twenty thirty minutes wiping all the pillows and sheets down and draping the netting most nights. -To that end, there are

Bula! You cannot go wrong at Savasi! This place has the most amazing villas with private pool and dreamy views! Very private and the most amazing people! The staff make this place the best! Rico and the amazing dining staff with the most amazing food! They truly treat you like family! They gave us the most amazing meal in a decorated area hand place flowers and decorated cake for our Anniversary . Alex and Erik are great in planning and carrying out the activities with something to do every day! Ma is always there to make sure you are well taken care of. All the rest of the staff who I cannot mention are always smiling and welcoming! We met amazing new friends from the time we were picked up at the airport from Australia and California as well as Boston! Will never forget this place! Venaka Venaka!

Don't expect to much.... The villas are nice, but if you expect them to be cleaned properly, no they make your bed... floor cleaning is not on the list. Food is served after you have to make your choice at breakfast what to eat at night. It is a true Fiji experience - amazing speed, but you are on vacation... Serious interaction with the people you will face with the driver, who seems to be the most professional person at all. Well he is a service guy! And the disappointment in person is the general who is running the show... Acting like a youth hostel manger, not interest as all in guest requirements. Try to make a booking and you face the challenge of your resilience.... SPA appointments: The advertise being small with limited number of guests, so you do not have to make a reservation well in advance... Well, asking in the evening for a treatment next day is responded with a "No problem" , all free... When showing up I the morning it is entirely booked for the day just a minute ago.... Frankly speaking they do not want to work. An Excursion to a nieghbour island wich was ranking high on our wish list and a reason why we decided to get here - well you have to beg Ma that she will take your money.... It is VERY expensive and all based on the willingness of the host... There is no respect toward the demand of guests and that they have limited time - you have to adjust your plans to the will of Ma.... It is a poor experience - I am sure other resorts in Fiji are by far better organized and prepared to meet customer wishes. Access to "blue" water is not an option, you have a little pool. . I would not recommend going here... and I am not a very critical person. Have a look at next doors "Namale" resort - it is very likely the better choice.
