I’m order to leave a helpful review, you need to take account of all the aspects of a hotel and it’s services. I have just returned from a week’s stay with 10 other friends, so have gained quite a broad picture. My main focus is on food and booze, but the rest of the hotel was clean, efficient and friendly. The totting up of the final bill on the last day was correct down to the last penny (cent). The hotel is not particularly expensive, but what they offer and provide for that is, in my opinion, very good indeed. I certainly cannot agree with the ‘disappointing’ food comments, as I found it perfectly good. There is certainly some creativity with ingredients, but that’s half the fun. Breakfasts are by buffet, and dinners by buffet followed by service. There is certainly plenty to eat - I like my food, and always left the room full and fat! There were always three options for each of starters, mains and puddings, and with the pre-buffet and a simple ‘English’ side-buffet, made a total of 5 courses, if you wanted. Wine is really good, with a wide range (even the house wine carafe at €15 was perfectly drinkable). The bar are is huge, with either comfy sofas, or tables big enough for all 11 of us to sit around. Service again was friendly - maybe a third option for beer would be good, but pilsner and IPA was good enough. Rooms are a little dated, but cleanliness for me is more important than marble tiles and gold taps, and it was certainly clean and tidy, with beds dressed every day on return. Boot room is a little tired, and could do with a bit more space, but it works, and there are boot dryers available. Overall, if I were to return, I’d certainly seek the Baita out again.
