Avant Garde Suites

Unfortunately, this hotel was a major letdown. Despite the price, the hotel was dirty, outdated, and far from the quality I expected. The room was not clean, with visible dust and stains, the bathroom was unclean and the overall condition of the hotel was poor. It did not match the description or photos on the website, which was very misleading. This experience has been quite disheartening. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and clean stay.

Lovely homely and quiet hotel in an excellent location of Akrotiri away from the bustle of Fira and Oira (both beautiful but not much privacy). U will need a vehicle hire to get around though as taxis too expensive and buses too infrequent. Room is nice, staff super helpful and attentive (thank you Eleni!). Views are stunning.

I had this hotel booked for my partners 40th birthday last weekend only to receive an email from them advising me that my stay had been cancelled by them at my request 6 days before we were due to arrive.. I requested an explanation of course but none was forthcoming. It looks an incredible place it’s just a shame that we didn’t get to find out for ourselves.

It pains me to only give this three stars! The view is incredible and the staff are so kind and friendly. But the room really let our stay down. This is meant to be a designer “avant garde” hotel, but the room felt so cheap and basic considering the cost of it. Tired furniture, stained upholstery, rusty taps in the bathroom, chipped walls and bits of plaster slapped on top of the walls and ceilings. The hot tub felt a bit old and not very clean. I feel like we got the worst room (Room 1) as it was right next to Reception and there was a fair amount of road noise and people walking past from other rooms. Not very private when you’re trying to chill in the hot tub. I did ask if we could move, but the other equivalent room was fully booked and the only free room would have come at an extra cost which the person on Reception that evening was unsure on. Unfortunately the wind during our stay was horrendous. I read other reviews about it being really windy at the hotel and thought people were exaggerating. Wow – they definitely weren’t! It stopped us sleeping one night as it was so loud. Yet you’d turn the corner to walk into town and it was absolutely fine. This is the price you pay for being high up to enjoy the views. The wind meant that we couldn’t enjoy the pool because it was like a wave machine. Nor could we sunbathe around the pool or on our balcony. The hot tub was fortunately still usable though as the heat of the water took the edge off. Sadly it also meant that we couldn’t have breakfast on the terrace and had to go downstairs into the restaurant every day. This was a real shame as it was one of the key selling points. However, breakfast was good and very generous! Overall, an OK stay but I’m not sure I’d recommend it unless they have a really good room refurb.

This a TERRIFIC place to stay. My Wife and I spent quite a few days there, and really enjoyed every minute. Santorini has so much to offer, and we got to see it all. Avant Garde is really special.- the views, restaurants in the area, beaches nearby, and a lot to do. But, the most impressive was the Outstanding STAFF. They were the Best !The customer service was great. Small staff, but ALL of them took wonderful care of us. THANK YOU Lefteris, Giannis, Ourania, and Sandy.
