Hotel Fischer

I traveled alone for a short skiing trip to nearby Kitzbuhel. However, the hotel is suitable for solo, couples or families. The hotel is in a great location right in the centre of St Johann. I was travelling by car, and there is a small car park at the hotel which was sufficient. The town has good links by car, bus or train to other ski areas. The hotel itself is great - my room was very comfortable with plenty of storage and a modern bathroom. The breakfast area is spacious, and plenty of choice for breakfast. The bar is also excellent and is a bit of a focus for local evening life, though I had no problems with noise from the bar in the evenings. All in all I thoroughly recommend Hotel Fischer if you are visiting the area.

We have just returned from the Fischer, and are already looking at dates to return!. What a fantastic hotel this is!. Michael, Monika and their family are excellent hosts, and the entire staff cannot do enough for you. Special mention must go to Nathan at Miki's Bar. He is a credit to the place and good fun to chat with after a day on the slopes. The hotel is spotless with lovely, large comfortable rooms. The breakfasts are superb, and set you up for a day's skiing- an added bonus is the afternoon soup/toasts that the hotel puts on every afternoon which ives you a little boost, just when you need it. The hotel is ideally centralised in the village, and you never have far to walk. 10-15 minutes to the Gondola, with plenty of skiing at St Johann to keep most intermediates happy for a week. You can go to nearby Steinplatts and other smaller resorts, free by bus if you wish. These areas are included in your regional pass. A free train pass allows you to venture further afield if you fancy a day away from the slopes- Kitzbuhel is a mere 12 minutes away by train. ( If you want to ski there, please remember to buy the superski pass, as a day in Kitzbuhel is 70 euros per person) The hotel is B&B basis only, but there are several superb restaurants a short walk away- Please check out the Huber-Brau for the views and the food, and Finks for a special meal out ( not cheap but delicious) This family-run gem is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, and is thoroughly deserving of every wonderful review it receives. St Johann and in particular, Hotel Fischer***Superior. Thank You! We were a little sceptical about the resort as did didn’t look to big, but boy does it deliver! Some of the best ski runs I have ever done! Fantastic hotel, in the middle of town, you leave your boots and skis at the bottom of the gondola, so you don’t have to carry them back! Nathan is there to welcome you after a hard day’s skiing with a nice cold beer! All the staff were amazing on our holiday, nothing was ever to much trouble. A great atmosphere and would 100% return!

A fabulous hotel with great staff who made our holiday complete. Will definitely be going back. In a fabulous central location, easy access to all facilities and amenities in the town, we were made at home and very welcome. The rooms were great, as was breakfast and the bar was a great place to finish a long day on the ski slopes.

The rooms were a little old fashioned but clean (Nice bathrooms). The Breakfast room, reception area and bar are nice, the English guy in the bar and the breakfast staff were very friendly and accommodating. Nice breakfast, everything you need. The hotel was close to the town center and a short walk to the Ski lift, around 15 minutes. A very nice town, nice shops and places to eat and drink. Max's bar is a great spot after a bit of skiing, not the usual 'headbanging' aprés, more of a chilled vibe and great food. YThe hotel is very close to the train station, so you can jump on a train and head to towns close by like the very nice KitzBruhel (The Monaco of Austria) You'll enjoy Saint Johann and Hotel Fischer.

What a great little hotel...... I could leave it like that, But I would like to thank Michael, Monika, Felix & Maxi and all their staff for one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The hotel is spotless and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The family are on hand every day to help you with all your needs. At night Nathan is behind the bar and is a great chap who is a fountain of knowledge as well as a sound guy. The breakfast was superb just what you need for a day on the slopes and the breakfast staff run around and look after you and cater to all your needs. Also a mention to the two little cleaning ladies for keeping out rooms spotless. It was our first time in Austria and St Johann but it won't be our last. The local people are very friendly and the food and beer is second to none. From the Huber Brau brewery with it's restaurant on the top floor ( no booking required ) to Fink's to the new Indian restaurant and even to Pinocchio's for pizza's and not to mention all the mountain side places to eat.
