Channel View Hotel

This is a low standard hotel so do not expect more. All aspects of hospitality are lacking, of which the most concerning is the lack of cleanliness. The staff we encountered, bar the management, were friendly and hospitable however. Read the manager’s responses to people’s reviews on *********** to discover their lack of professionalism and customer service.

The worst place we have ever stayed. The manager was so rude, walking off ignoring us several times when we tried to speak to her, her attitude was awful. The room was not what we had booked, it was small, outdated, with cheap old furniture and unclean. We made the best of a bad situation and advise you to avoid at all costs, or sleep on the beach under the peir if only place available.

There are a few bad reviews about this hotel and we were apprehensive about our visit. The welcome was not the best, but we arrived a few hours late due to the ferry being delayed and I can understand the owners frustration about having to hold back on the food service and pay overtime to staff. After the initial welcome, we were shocked, the staff could not do enough and the evening entertainment was excellent. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, however, the food here was very good quality and cooked to a great standard, they don't list poached eggs on the breakfast menu, but ask for them, the chef is well practiced!! The down side is the decor and after speaking to the owner, it is a work in progress. I would return and if you don't over expect, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Stayed for 4 nights with National Holidays. On arrival about 6.30pm, we were allocated our rooms and then went straight into evening meal after a long day travelling. This was 3 courses and was lovely. Each evening you would order your breakfast for the following morning and each morning, you would order your evening meal. All the staff were very friendly and really wanted us all to have a lovely stay there. I personally enjoyed every meal there. Entertainment was put on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening and was good. Our room was at the front on the first floor and had a large bay window. Tea and coffee making facilities were plentiful. Room was comfortable and warm. Overall, I would say this hotel should be 3* and I would stay here again. Thank you to all the staff for making us all feel welcome.

Pictures on here are very outdated and misleading. Very shabby and needs updating. Most of staff are rude and off hand. Woman who owns or manages it has attitude problem and doesn’t like being told anything is wrong. Completely ridiculous if you can’t take criticism. Especially if it’s true. There was a male waiter. Viz I think he was called young Indian man. He was pleasant but the only decent thing about the place was him. Felt sorry for him. Doing everything himself. Entertainment was non existent on a new years break and very lacklustre on New Year’s Day. Food choices were poor and very average. Very noisy too. Walls were like tracing paper so could hear everything and I mean everything without being too vulgar. Needs new staff and revamped. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Just spent a weekend here, good points first, hotel staff excellent Nick & K very hard workers in restaurant, entertainment Saturday night was excellent, bingo Sunday night was funny the way it was organised owner daughter delightful, plenty of tea coffee and milk in the room, bad points, we were in room 14 no heating all weekend, toilet overflow was running all the time , did tell the owner but she was unable to get a plumber until Monday, room was very basic bed was like sleeping on a bed of springs but linen was clean, but overall the weekend was a nice break, and the people on the coach were very pleasant and I think we all enjoyed the weekend, Would we stay here again, I'm sorry to say the answer is no,
