Hotel Sole

Unreliable! We booked one night 6 months in advance. 2 weeks before our overnight stay, the booking was canceled by the hotel. Probably passed on to someone who wanted to book for a longer period. They suggested another hotel, 10 km away, but we were not helped by that because we were hiking with the backpack.

We had a lovely holiday and the hotel staff were lovely and the food was great and I hate to have to give some negative comments but want to be honest. We had a junior suite overlooking the lake,views great however we didn't realise this hotel was on a very busy main road and traffic was relentless. We couldn't sleep and asked for a different room after 4 nights. The different room had walls that were paper thin and you could hear people in adjoining rooms going to the toilet and I was kept awake again by a person snoring. Such a shame. My partner and I love to go for a walk after dinner on holiday but you couldn't because there was no pavement and the road too dangerous to walk on. We also felt that as soon as you got up from your table after dinner you had to go to your room as there was hardly any space to sit and chill before bed. Sorry hotel owners but this is our opinion.

We stayed at Hotel Sole the last week in August and it was a very nice experience.Taxi from Milan Malpensa dropped us at the door which was a very nice spin.This hotel is a family run hotel .The staff(family) are most helpful and friendly.The reception,room and meals were top class.Outside the door is the bus stop to take you into Mennagio,10 minutes, from where you can get the ferries to Bellagio and Varenna and several other towns. The hotel is just north of Mennagio.The views of the Lake from the hotel are beautiful.A beautiful area to visit.No hesitation in recommending this hotel

We stayed here for ten days in August. We had the best time. The staff are friendly and professional, most of them worked there for many years, family-run. The lunch and evening food is insanely good. We had a small room 1st floor which was a little disappointing as we saw two much bigger rooms through people we met and we booked early and paid the full rate, no discount schemes, but we honestly had the best time. Room very clean, good fridge and air con. Nice breakfast included in price, good coffee as well whoop. The new pool is a massive bonus, it is stunning. Nice and cosy hotel in a strategic location to visit famous places in the Como lake area. Very kind staff and clean rooms. Breakfast is also a great one. To be highlighted the Rezzonico village, reachable on foot (5 mins): a hidden pearl. Thank you for the family owning and managing the hotel for letting us use the balcony/solarium with view the lake!

The family who own the hotel and their staff are some of the loveliest hotel workers we had ever come across. Really accommodating and exceeded their necessary service by even offering us a lift to the nearby Menaggio due to a bus strike! The breakfast was great- lots of options. Just make sure to get down early-ish for the best croissants! Location was fantastic. We visited Como and really valued being away from the hustle and bustle back in San Siro. Most guests relied on a car however we had no problem using the bus service to visit the sights. The hotel restaurant was the best in the area. Due to the location, we tried all neighbouring bars and restaurants, however dined at the hotel the most. Excellent selection of starters, mains and desserts. Great selection of drinks too. The room itself was really nice. Traditional decor and had all necessary amenities. We paid for a lake view room and it certainly lived up to expectations. Room was very clean, with fresh towels each day. The TV had Netflix as well as satellite channels and other apps. The pool area was very pleasant, despite it being a bit too cold for the pool in mid September. The sun loungers were really comfy too. Location wise, the hotel is situated fairly north of the lake, however it takes under an hour to reach the bottom or the top. The local buses are as to be expected in Italy (late), however once they do arrive they are very cheap and take you on a scenic journey around the lake to the neighbouring towns and cities. Overall, fantastic stay. Really recommend to anybody wanting to explore Lake Como!
