I was booked into the self catering apartments at the rear of Grange Lodge, for three months, from early May until the end of July. I am in Guernsey on business. The hotel grounds and pool are lovely, and the walk into the town is good, about 15mins, but be aware that the walk back is all uphill. The apartment itself seems very dated, the furniture doesn't have a welcoming feel, and although the owner didn't share my thoughts, I found it a little dark, with no sunlight. The furniture was very dated too. The sofa was terrible, it was faux leather, that was peeling off (see photos) It was uncomfortable too, they had put a blanket over it (a throw, sort of thing) but this just slid off. and every time I stood up, I was covered in "leather" flakes, which made a mess of the apartment. The TV wasn't great, a 32" tv on a precarious bracket, but it was watchable, but not comfortable. The kitchen was adequate. But only adequate enough, I suspect, to get through annual inspections. The frying pan was not great, and every time I cooked with it, it set off the fire alarm. Bedroom was fine, but the distance to the bathroom in the middle of the night seemed excessive, I had to walk out of the bedroom, into a corridor, walk about 10m into the living room, into the entrance hall, then into the bathroom. The owner didn't see this as a problem. The rooms are not described as en-suite, so that was ok. The bar meal was good, no issues with the one meal I had there, but if you want to eat there, you'll need to book. When my employer complained mainly about the state of the sofa, the owner mentioned that I hadn't complained. A sign that everything must be ok. I then sent an email listing my observations (not a complaint, but she took it as one). The next morning I was asked to leave, two weeks into a three month contract, leaving me homeless. In my email, I gave a phone number to contact me to discuss, but they didn't. They said that they came to see me but I wasn't there. I was actually at work, they told me that they left moments before I got back. They said that they never came back because they couldn't see a work van. I don't have a work van, but I have a car, that they had the registration number when I checked in. Clearly they never checked that. I found the owner uncaring, and in some parts of the conversation quite rude, when I asked her about her attitude, it was because I had the temerity to complain (which i didn't) she mentioned that my "threat" that the tripadvisor review wouldn't make pretty reading made up her mind to throw me out. It is sad that I had such an unsavoury experience, because the apartments have so much potential. The grounds are lovely, and the pool was a great place to spend some downtime. The cleaning staff were great too, always saying hello as they went about their business with a smile, but I would never stay there again, and I could not recommend others to use these apartments, this is of course my opinion, based on my experience
